  1. Took me some time, too. Then I laughed out loud and immediately felt shame.
  2. Gotta say, it was pretty cathartic to see Houston drop 3 of 4 to the Yankees at home. Much as I hate the Yanks, I somehow feel better about the Angels.
  3. Probably, but that's not really a good comparison - Brandon Wood was a BA consensus #1 prospect that just failed inexplicably. There's none of the 'hype' baggage with Blash. An interesting question; does the team owe anything to a player who excels at their top minor league level? If, say, a kid at SLC sees what Blash is doing and that it results in a non-callup, does that potentially disillusion the kid? Teams tell their minor league players 'just go down and work hard, and if you succeed, good things will happen'. Even if you view Blash as a 4-A player (which he probably is at this point), might it not be worth giving him a week in the bigs and sit Kole for a while to get his head straight? I don't think Blash will do any worse than Calhouns 4 fer 55 over the last 3 weeks.
  4. Tell that to his .342/.435/.836 slash this year.
  5. That's a pretty amazing story, RH! That there takes commitment. Hope it works out for ya!
  6. My favorite was from spring training 2003 - Guillermo Mota of the dogs hit Mike Piazza (then a Met). Mike charged the mound and Mota took off his mitt and threw it at him while backpedaling past 2nd and into the OF. He circled around wide of 1st, down the dugout steps, and into the clubhouse running backwards all the way, trying to fend off a furious Piazza. Funniest thing I've ever seen. Tried to find the video a few times since, but it has mysteriously vanished from the interwebs.
  7. I've only been posting regularly for the last couple months, but in that time it's been my observation, AF1984, that the majority of times when you first weigh in to a conversation, it is in order to paint Scioscia in the worst possible light, whether justified or not. A great example was the first quote above - we have discussed at length why it was the absolute right move to leave Paredes in the game with a 10-2 lead, after the first two batters reached. Yet you characterize his actions as "sitting on his thumbs ... Typical Scioscia". You were wrong. He was doing his job, managing his bullpen, bringing home the win. It's frustrating to see Paredes struggle out there, but that doesn't make it Scioscia's fault - he's not interested in maintaining a 'run differential'. He's not interested in blowing a team out. He's interested in a) winning the game b) managing his resources, and c) developing his personnel. He did all three of those well last night. As I said, this is just the latest example. But this has been my observation in watching your posts. To me, my friend, that IS the definition of trolling. Now, I'm not a Scioscia apologist; I respect the things he has done for the team, I recognize that he has had shortcomings that have been brought into the spotlight with the advent of the current analytics available, and I am impressed at what I've seen of his efforts to overcome those short-comings so far this year. Do I think he's the right manager for the team going forward after next year? Probably not, but let's wait and see. All I'm saying is, the next time you take your pot-shot at Mike, take a second and try to figure out if it's warranted, or if maybe it's just an example of confirmation bias.
  8. J-Up watched that fly out. Maybe a light-bulb went on? "Oh, THAT'S how that works!"
  9. Glad I tuned in tonight; learning a ton about the greatness that is the Yankees.
  10. Watching the Yankees work the count up, I just can't figure out why we never ever seem to learn. Andrelton out on one pitch, Cozart on three, and Marte on four. We're like the Helpful Honda Hitters. "Geez, CC, we know you're old and probably don't have alot of pitches left on that arm. We can help with that!"
  11. I think I've got the baseball equivalent of PTSD. Just waiting for the wheels to come off. Funny, but I've been dreading 5:07 all day - but I can't look away.
  12. That's some musically gifted kids right there. Wonder what it would sound like if we actually heard the noise they were making on those instruments. On second thought, might be better than the jingle.
  13. Guilty. It's been 12 or 13 years since I last had season tickets, but I would always sell my NY & Bos tix online, because they paid big bucks for 'em. Some years I broke even on the cost of the tickets because of it. That was my rationalization, and that's where I was at that point. Doesn't mean I wasn't a loyal fan, just that I had to choose between going to no games, or going to alot, but selling my NY & Boston tickets. At the time, I would complain loudly about all the corporate tickets that would be used for business entertainment and given away to 'casual interest' people who would then leave in the 4th inning (IF they bothered to show up). In retrospect, that was pretty hypocritical. Over the last 50 years, Southern California has drawn people from all over; far more have moved to So Cal from NY & Boston then the reverse, and that creates the environment. I can't ask others to not do what I did for so many years. I have no solutions, other than making it a miserable experience for their fans by beating them on the field.
  14. I wonder if he's limiting the splitter in an effort to let his finger heal
  15. Mike Trout is becoming the "Mike Trout" of Mike Trout's
