  1. If only they went by 'hits' instead of 'runs'. Hits don't mean squat if you don't do anything with them.
  2. I understand the numbers crunch, but I wish we'd found a way to hang on to Bard. One terrible outing against Boston, but beyond that looked really good.
  3. That's a good point. Probably not, but I actually like our chances with 1st & 3rd, one out, and Johnson still in his first inning. At this point in his career, I don't think you can squeeze two innings out of him, but I thought he was throwing the ball well in the 10th.
  4. Keynan went on DL retroactive to April 28, soooo should be eligible to return Tuesday May 8, right? Any word on his progress?
  5. Another excellent choice. Frustrating game. How about "too numerous to mention" as the goat of the game?
  6. True. Baseball is tough - woulda been the hero if they'd held that lead. But if I step back and try to think of one reason they lost that game, that grounder to 2nd is what I think of. It turned a 7-6 win into a 9-8 loss. Tough loss - but Seattle showed a lot of grit coming back 3 times.
  7. Johnson earned the save last night, just didn't get it. The pitch Gamel got the first hit on in the 10th was great; low and away. He just hit it. Happens. After the sacrifice, got a nice infield grounder to Marte who..... I dunno what that was. Shoulda ended in the 10th, 7-6 halos.
  8. I would have hung it on Marte. That ground-ball fiasco in the 10th was ridiculous.
  9. If we trade Kole for Diaz, can he come in and get the save for us?
  10. Wow, Rivera must not be calling a very good game here.
  11. Ahhh, my bad -- In that case...... I got nothin'.
  12. Well, since you already said Angel Oracle got it right like half a day ago, Ima go with.... Ty Cobb?
  13. Charlie Morton starts off the game for the Astros by walking the first 3 guys. It's an epidemic, I tell ya!
  14. With Nick T on the 10-day DL, he should be eligible to come off May 12, right? There are only two more off-days in May, so here's how the pitching seems to me to be shaping up: Week 1: May 1-7: Nitro, Heaney, Barria, G-Rich, Skaggs, Ohtani, OFF-DAY Week 2: May 8-14: Heaney, Barria, G-Rich, Skaggs, Nitro, Ohtani, Heaney Week 3: May 15-21: Barria, G-Rich, Skaggs, Nitro, Heaney Ohtani, OFF-DAY Week 4: May 22-28: Barria, G-Rich, Skaggs, Nitro, Heaney, Ohtani, Barria Week 5: May 29-Jun 4: G-Rich, Skaggs, Nitro, Heaney, Shoemaker, Ohtani, G-Rich So it looks to me like Barria is on the club until Shoemaker comes back Thoughts?
  15. I suspect that when they put Nitro on the 10-day, the plan was always for Barria to make two starts
  16. This is Jeff's comment from the other thread. It was written on May 4, so I believe the Wednesday mentioned must be May 9.
  17. As much as said that 2000 RBI's is a milestone he wants as much as the 3000 hits. Albert will be at clean-up the rest of the year. Having said that, congratulations on a memorable milestone for a fantastic ballplayer and all-around great guy.
  18. I'm not suggesting that Blash, or Young for that matter, are The Answer. The goal is to get Kole back hitting again. He hit .353 in ST (I know, I know, spring training means nothing) and he's had success in the past, so it's in there; he just needs to work through it. My point - why does he need to work through it at the major league level? While saying Blash isn't The Answer is probably correct, couldn't Blash be The Temporary Solution while Kole works on his issues? If you give each of them 25 at bats against major league pitching right now, this week, who performs better? If you conclude it is Blash, and you have the options to make it happen, you do the team a disservice by not pulling the trigger.
  19. I dunno, learning to hit? What are you suggesting, that he lucked into his .342/.435/.836 slash over 21 games? I mean, are all his opponents just letting his hits fall, all the pitchers lobbing meatballs just to pull off some cosmic prank and make the Angels think they have something? Look, nobody expects him to be a star; or even a league average player; all I want him to do is go better than 4 fer freakin' 51 for a week or two.
  20. Just say no. He's a hot mess. https://247sports.com/mlb/marlins/Article/Matt-Harveys-night-of-stumbling-around-LA-is-the-latest-example-why-the-Mets-cant-trust-him--117939235
  21. Could be he wanted to make sure the Japanese media was in town and wasn't sure if his retirement was enough of a draw?
