  1. Found these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JT5r16nDvw Better than Dallas
  2. Some are much less flawed. Not all stats are equally as useful.
  3. WHIP is flawed. It doesn't weigh hits. Walks and doubles aren't the same. He's very bad.
  4. I like it as a snapshot. If it's close I use other stats.
  5. WAR has a .94 correlation to on field results. It's better than the Pythag records.
  6. It's kind of a pointless misnomer. RBI's aren't measuring ability. WAR is and does it with a high degree of accuracy.
  7. No, you can lose WAR. You are either creating value or you aren't. And a person in the lineup is much more valuable.
  8. I am going to say it's impossible for him to mainain his wRC+ of 193 and his wOBA of 457. Those are Barry Bonds types numbers. But I think he is too high right now to drop down to all the way to 130 for wRC+.
  9. In large aggregate samples this is completely irrelevant.
  10. It may sound stupid, but it's absolutely correct.
  11. Regression to the mean just means going back to the average. Assuming regression for Crisp, Donaldson, means you should assume regression for the other hitters who are doing below what their averages or projections are.
  12. Bad calls always even out to 50/50 and that's why people hate it when people complain about bad calls. I hardly even complained about that. That being said, some of our hitters are regressing, but some of our hitters are also regressing the other way. Reddick, Young, Cespedes.
  13. Yeah, sounds like our season is over. We have to play the Rangers and Mariners five times. Requiescat in pace, A's.
  14. Nope, any team can win a game they aren't supposed too. Happens all the time. A shitty A's team holds the record for biggest comeback in a game. It's the teams that can blow other teams out consistently that are playoff teams.
  15. I think they have scored like three runs now in six games.
  16. If you just think of Wells and Hamilton as the same person, all you did was extend Vernon's deal for three years.
  17. A's have averaged one playoff appearance every three years in the Beane era and have won more games than any teams not called the Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies.
  18. Yankees aren't as good as their record indicates. I think regression for the Yankees and the lack of depth will help the Angels either take two of three or sweep.
  19. Except a .94 correlation to actual W-L results. That's a better predictor than the pythag records.
  20. A player changing his approach for 40 MPH pitches doesn't change how you approach a normal at bat. Brandon Inge after his regression “We’re professionals. As Albert Pujols or Ryan Howard said, you can make adjustments. It won’t stick with you anyway. Someone once told me it takes 30 days for muscle memory to become habit. I wouldn’t think that few swings in one night would affect you.”
