  1. He found his swing in Japan, learned how to hit inside pitches, and had a 1.000+OPS there. Put up .800+OPS seasons when he came back. His experience should suit him well for coaching jobs.
  2. Not just the quality of the posters, but threads like these to appreciate them is what makes this site unique and so much better from others. Cheers to the creator of the site.
  3. Dang, I never realized how much I liked the man until it hit me that he's gone. I hope he comes back to the team in some kind of form.
  4. This. But I don't really feel good about our needs in the other positions, namely 3B and LF. We have zero trade assets, which means all we can hope for is to overpay for a FA, or hope someone just sticks or steps up. It's not going to be pretty.
  5. Maybe it's because it doesn't really make much sense for either teams. The Angels need wasn't SS, and Atlanta didn't really need to get rid of Simmons. As of value, the Braves probably got more, just like most prospect for established star player trades.
  6. The Angels probably lost the trade, and it will hurt if we ever see Newcomb become one of the best pitchers in baseball soon. But as of now, the excitement of having Simmons at SS is a little bit bigger for me. Can't wait.
  7. His OBP is and always has been legit, and I actually wanted the Angels to sign him earlier. But his concussion seems to be pretty serious, and he reportedly still is suffering from the after effects. He won't be signed anytime soon, so they should take their time.
  8. Arrieta should be a good choice, because the Cubs went 26-7 in his starts, including a 17-1 run to close out the season. His final ERA was 1.77. Isn't that pretty valuable? Every time he took the mound in the second half, it was basically a guaranteed win.
  9. I didn't have a single complaint about the strike zone until that last half inning, but man. Gotta feel bad for the Toronto fans.
  10. They were' even close according to brooks baseball as well. Looks even worse from an above angle. https://twitter.com/RyanWaltonMLB/status/657773624926076928
  11. The two strike call on Revere was a travesty. Robotic strike zones need to be installed quickly.
  12. The bunt in the second inning this thread is raving about was from the 8 and 9 hitters. Do we ever complain about bunting with Featherston or the pitcher in interleague games? MS bunted with friggin Kole Calhoun this season. Right in front of Trout. And he did it twice. Every manager uses bunts. It's all about the context. Alert us when Maddon asks Fowler to bunt in front of Schwarber.
  13. Mets vs Cubs for the NL title. Is this real life?
  14. They're saying it's the first time in history that a team made 3 errors in the same inning in a elimination playoff game.
  15. This could be my favorite non Angel game ever.
  16. Didn't know that. In my understanding, Baylor wasn't with the team on road trips on many occasions, and missed a lot of games. He certainly had the expertise, but probably wasn't fit enough to do his job through the grind of the season.
  17. Looks like Baylor had to leave because of health reasons. He's pretty old and had surgery. Butcher on the other hand..
  18. I guess the Angels aren't the only team that chokes in big games. Gerrit Cole, man.
  19. HOU just scored their 3rd touchdown.
  20. Well, FYI, Japanese baseball fans say this all the time about foreign players. Whenever an American guy tries to take out a catcher or a second baseman with a hard slide, they call them barbarians who don't know what sport is about. When foreign players spit on the ground, toss their helmets or bats, argue with an umpire, they say they're uneducated, and low class human beings. And whenever those players start to slump, they say it's because of their habits and should be gone.
  21. 2 nice innings with 7 painful ones in between, but it was worth watching. Game ball goes to Weaver.
