Somewhere, Trout's probably saying to himself," Why did I signed that contract extension with the Angels before the 2014 season?"

In fairness, the Angels did win 98 games in 2014 but were a disappointment in the postseason after getting swept by the Royals. The last 2 years haven't been pretty for the Angels, missing the postseason both times.

Are you trying to win a stupid post of the year contest? The Angels made Trout rich beyond his wildest dreams.

One of the greatest nights in my life was being at the Big A for the halos 02 WS win.

My love for baseball has waned considerably over the years.  I was once such a die hard Angel fan.  Watching the Cubs win the WS ended one of those great baseball stories - yeah yeah tip of hat to Joe Maddon and team for getting it done - the "would they ever win again" story.

I always felt differently after the Red Sox finally broke their curse.  It wasn't fun not being able to yell 1918 at them, especially after the second title in our lifetimes.

I know records are meant to be broken, and legends fade.  Lou Gehrig's record fell.  Aaron's record fell.  Rose became the hit king.

I suppose I'm mourning my childhood, which each day grows more distant.  Going to the Big A in the 70s and 80s as a kid and loving every pitch was my life.  I'd go to 40+ games a season with my dad.   This season I didn't watch one Angels game on tv and went to one.  It's quite sad as I spent my teens and 20s hoping for a son to share my passion of baseball for.  After having two girls, I finally have a five year old boy, but I don't have an interest in the game or sharing it with him.

The one game he and I went to this year, we arrived in the second inning and left in the seventh.

I read Historical books about old baseball days and stadiums and past legends. I love that part of baseball.  Sadly I didn't evolve with the game.

Growing up my aunt from Chicago sent me two things for Xmas and my birthday every year - something Jesus related and something Cubs related.  Them losing every year was a thing to me.

    Now that's gone.

But it isn't so much about the Cubs win as it is my loss.

I'm probably the only one on some foolish rant in the world right now, but there's no better place for that rant than AW.com

    Amen for baseball!

Get your 5 year old involved in Little League and make it fun. No yelling, just cheering. It will change your life to see the joy of baseball again. My 21 yo son and I have season tickets to Cal State Fullerton baseball and we both prefer going there to the 3 or 4 trips we take each year to Angel stadium.

  3. Some executive decisions need to be made for the greater good.  We need Trout uninjured and fresher for the long long season.  Running Trout all over the lot all the long season is harder on Trout and ultimately harder on the team.  Kole and Trouty are both powerful big body type players.  Someone lighter and thinner is a better option to patrol CF.  Trout has not yet won a gold glove.  There are reasons why not.  He'll win one in LF, Kole another GG in right.

To bad you weren't here for the Bourjos wars. Good times.

  4. I think a lot of posters here think Arte cares more than he does.  Let's try to remember that the Angels are his play thing.  It's a hobby for him.  If he was about winning a championship and only about winning, he would be doing his absolute best to make sure the team is as good as it can be year after year.  That clearly is not the case.  He keeps Scioscia around so right there should show you he doesn't care much about winning.  Combine that with not wanting to go over the luxury tax this year and the writing is on the wall.  He will probably still get close to or more than 3 million people to attend games this year and that's all he seems to care about.  Having Mike Trout is not really a big deal to him.  If it was, he would be doing EVERYTHING he could to surround Trout with the absolute best talent available.  Just have to accept things for what they are.

    What a load of crap.

  5. There is probably 0 money to sign any big free agents this off season thanks to Josh Hamilton, CJ Wilson, Jered Weaver, Albert Pujols, and mostly Arte Moreno.

Why would you put Weav on this list? He's been a huge asset to the Angels!

  6. And thats Bonds' fault somehow?  Love him or hate him he was the best player in baseball for a long period of time, and there isnt a damn thing anybody could say to argue it.  If he had a team around him he would have had at least 3 rings.  Which is why I thought the Angels should have gotten him.

Nobody said he wasn't a great ballplayer. It was your quote "we would have gotten another World Series for sure" that is funny.

  7. I watch a lot of Cardinal games, and I have just come to the conclusion that Peter just isn't a good baseball player. He alright with the glove and has great speed (that doesn't translate to steals, btw), but is just clueless at the plate. He'll be the 5th OF/ late inning defensive sub once again when Grichuk gets back. Whatever problem the Angels may be having right now, having Bourjos back wouldn't solve any of them.

I won't argue with most of your post except "He alright with the glove". His glove, speed and arm displaced Mike Trout from centerfield. Thats saying something!

  8. Not at all.  Everything Arte has done as an owner, McCourt did.

In fact, McCourt did Arte one better.  He bought the Dodgers with a credit card (euphemistically speaking).

Buy property with no money down - just like the infomercials on Saturday morning!

No ofense but you're sounding kinda naive. There is NO question Arte is a brilliant business man. I also think Mccourt was a genius to pull off what he did!
