Theres always money in the banana stand.
-
I don't post here much (or at all) but I like to keep up with Angels baseball. This is pretty funny though, so if your mostly negative and don't mix in a little "optimism and cheer" you will get the boot or banned? Maybe I am missing the mark because I was not in the chat...I hope there is more than meets the eye here because it would seem strange to see this coming from an admin. just my .02
Stick around for awhile. I've never seen anyone banned that didn't deserve it. Like i said earlier, if all you want to do is complain start a vent thread.

Simple answer. Start a vent thread.

If you were a fly ball pitcher wouldn't you want PB in center?
-
Conger might turn out to be nothing, but he's really only had one shot(where he was in a strict lefty/righty platoon with Mathis). He certainly didn't light it up, but he showed a little bit of value then.
Really the way he's been handled has annoyed me, they've given ABs to players we know are bad instead of giving him another shot, and now they've apparently decided he's unplayable behind the plate based on Spring Training after he entered camp as the favorite for the backup catcher spot.
Can't wait to give up something for another team's scrub that they don't want.
The only problem with your theory is they have been watching him for 7 years not just this spring training.
-
Scioscia really does not like Conger.
Maybe Conger is just not as good as we all hoped he would be.

Salmon was an Angel for life after they paid him well for a second year player...just sayin'
You didn't answer my question.
-
And yet, the best second year player in a generation is making less money in his second year than Tim Salmon 20 years ago. "The business of baseball"...sure
You want to go back to the way things were run back then or take your chances that these guys know what they're doing?
-
He deserves the biggest raise for a second year player TBH. 1 million bucks for Trout is still highway robbery for the Angels...and Trout and his agent would have nothing to complain about. This is a cheap move by Arte/Dipoto. And that's coming from a guy who has been very happy with the FO since Dipoto took over
This coming from a guy thats never had to budget more than his lunch money.

you are bitter and you aint no trout
you are bitter and you aint no trout
Ok. This made me laugh.
-
He did get a 1.2 million signing bonus. One more great year and he will get paid.
-
I don't think they will put PB in the 2 spot till he proves himself in the 8 or 9 spot. If he can handle it I do think he is the best 1 or 2 guy.
-
-
Arte better not mess around with this. Lock this kid up no matter what the price! He want's 20 years 290 million.. You give it to him... May I remind you that in 10 year's this kid will only be 31....
I know this has nothing to do with that article but just had to put that out there.
Sarcasm on? I hope.
-
Might be better to give him the big money next year.

Wells is playing every day in ST...Nobody else is being played as mush as he is.
They are shopping him big time, and probably at 90% off.
I think his days are numbered.
I don't the front office is ready to take a 37 million dollar haircut. Hope I'm wrong.

we've talked about this before here. Yes padded hats are doable - at least something to increase safety is doable. Initially NOCSAE was demanding that any pitcher head gear must comply with the same safety standard as the batter's helmet - 90 mph which isn't going to happen so we'll see where youth sports ends up going (LL thru College). NOCSAE is a joke btw, but I'm not going to get into that discussion right now. MLB has been looking at some options, last I heard there were 5 options being looked at from different manufacturers.
I think we will see it in LL first.
-
I'll play. I think they will go $750k.

" it's one of the tougher things about catching. If you want to catch, you can't pick and choose the parts you like and the parts you don't like. You've gotta take everything with it"
The catchers gear is called the "tools of ignorance" for a reason.
-
I know this has been debated to death, but I would agree with Duck about banning collisions where the catcher is not blocking the plate. However, as Scioscia said in this articles, it would be very difficult determining if the catcher adequately gave the runner half of the plate. It would be very subjective for the umpire to determine if the collision was not necessary or not!
Arn't most plays subjective?

Its not just AROD but most charitable organizations. They claim to be nonprofit, but part of the revenue goes to salaries. Hell AROD could pay himself a salary for appearing at the golf event and it would still be considered nonprofit. That is why I am very cynical in donating to charites. Even organizations like the red cross spend too much money on "administrative" costs. Adiministrative cost could mean a plasma TV in your office!
For this reason I won't donate to the Red Cross, but I will to the Salvation Army. Most of their donations (I've heard 90%) go out to help people.

(4) If the runner’s path to the base is blocked and (1), (2) and (3) are fulfilled,it is considered unavoidable contact.(See Rule 2-54, Obstruction.)Soooo, I stand by my original post.

NCAA baseball rules section 8
I believe the rule states you can't hit the baseman and or catcher above the waist. Doesn't say you can't take them out (your words bowl them over). If I'm wrong show me the wording. Won't be the first time.
