  1. Was able to turn the game on right before Wilson's botched throw back to the pitcher, and that was an hour ago! Craziest inning of baseball I've ever seen. Wow.... just wow. Edit: I meant Martin's throw. Don't know why I was thinking Russell Wilson.
  2. Cop tries to shoot family dog, misses, and ends up hitting 4 year old girl in the leg shattering her bone. Cop never apologizes, tells sister of mother to stop yelling at him, then promptly goes back to his cruiser and decides to leave. And he never even called an ambulance. http://www.salon.com/2015/10/13/mommy_am_i_gonna_die_cop_shoots_4_year_old_after_aiming_for_family_dog_when_injured_mom_called_911_for_help/
  3. Some really neat pictures in the San Fran collection. San Francisco, California. Bank of America victory bond ad: May 1943 "It's always time to buy another bond!"
  4. Depression era and WW2 era photos from inside America from the years 1935-1945 have been organized and uploaded to an interactive map of the USA. They're sorted on the map by 'county' and there's about 170,000 photos in all. The darker the shade of green, the more pictures contained. Enjoy. http://photogrammar.yale.edu/map/
  5. As I wrote in another thread, with the exception of the ability to hit home runs, this is Sosh's worst offensive team he's ever had. Worst in batting average, lowest OBP, fewest runs scored, and fewest stolen bases. The total number of unnecessary outs on base is actually one fewer than last season, so I doubt that's a primary reason. The 176 home runs they hit is also their third most during Sosh's tenure, so they obviously hit a lot of solo shots.
  6. This year's offense was actually the worst during Sosh's tenure. Worst batting average, worst OBP, fewest runs scored, and fewest stolen bases. The entire team stole only 52 friggin' bases! That's only 3 more than Trout had in 2012!! Funny thing is they had 176 home runs. I'm guessing most of those were solo shots.
  7. And just when fantasy sports is starting to explode, a major scandal akin to insider trading is beginning to unfold. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/06/sports/fanduel-draftkings-fantasy-employees-bet-rivals.html?_r=0
  8. Clearly, one of the main reasons fantasy sports is legal is because of the amount of added revenue it generates from people wanting to watch more games.
  9. So exactly like poker, yeah? That's pretty much what I'm confused about. Why is poker then classified as a non-skill game and considered straight up gambling? Makes no sense unless you consider the level of cheating potential involved, which is something I don't believe they can take into consideration when classifying these forms of gaming.
  10. With all the Draft Kings commercials on television lately, I've been wondering why it's perfectly okay to play online fantasy sports but it's highly illegal to play online poker, especially when you have zero control over the outcome/results of the players (lineups) you're basically betting on in fantasy sports. Here's an article that came out just the other day on the topic and I was just wondering how others around here felt about fantasy sports vs online poker (or even poker in general) as far as skill and/or luck required for each game. I just don't see how they can classify fantasy sports as a "skill" game. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/02/online-poker-vs-daily-fantasy-which-creates-more-winners.html PS This guy in the comments section going by the name 'historyspeaks10' says poker requires zero skill and says he knows what he's talking about because he's been playing poker for 46 years! And then he offers this little nugget: "as someone that's cashed twice in WSOP events, including a 3rd place finish, as well as winning and cashing in tournaments all over the world, i can tell you there is more luck involved than anything else. positive thinking and attitude will benefit you more at gambling than anything else." Lol.
  11. Not only did we lose today, but Weaver is starting tomorrow. Things are looking pretty dim right now.
  12. KC has about 4 starters banged up with minor injuries. Looks like they're day to day, so not too sure if Yost will risk playing these guys with the division already locked up. Sounds like he's talking the precautionary approach. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/13789106/lorenzo-cain-alex-rios-kansas-city-royals-lineup-injuries
  13. Thanks Obama! http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-29/stunning-explanation-insurance-company-just-used-boost-health-premiums-60
  14. Trop has two more scheduled starts which also includes the final game in Texas. Maybe they want to pitch Latos in the last game against Oakland, moving everyone down one spot in the rotation, and pull Weaver for the remainder of the regular season? Oakland series: Santiago Tropeano Latos @ Texas: Richards Heaney Santiago Tropeano
  15. A lot of data to take in about the current state of the economy, but definitely a must read: The Table Is Set For The Next Financial Crisis http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-25/table-set-next-financial-crisis
  16. The original full scale shot:
  17. That's the first thing/show that came to my mind when reading this. That show was addicting to watch. Why do I get the feeling the people in this article are vegetarians?
  18. Perfect weather in Italy for some sailing or a nice little drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIxXwpsdWuU&feature=youtu.be
  19. My #1 choice is still Dave Martinez, Joe Maddon's bench coach. I can't think of anyone else better suited to change the culture of this team and organization.
  20. I just love how the long/lat of the membership purchase on his credit card traced right back to the university he was teaching at.
