  1. My dad has a big birthday coming up February 27th. I'd like to get him a dog. What are my options on such short notice? The shelters seem to have a big, long application process and won't let you adopt if the dog is a gift to another person. This is in Orange County, by the way.
  2. Give it time. SCE will become State of California Edison before long and our rates will go up even further
  3. I think this question hinges on what month you plan to visit?
  4. There's going to be a funeral train moving his body from Houston to College Station, TX. The locomotive was painted 13 years ago and placed in storage, essentially waiting for him to die. First funeral train since Eisenhower's death.
  5. What is he doing next season? You all know I wasn't his biggest fan -- that said, I think he would make an excellent bench coach.
  6. How does the 2018 election shape your guys' future in California? Does it push you closer to moving away? California voters just rejected Prop 6 which would have saved everybody hundreds of dollars a year. Orange County is now blue -- there's no going back. The California legislature has a super-majority again. Gavin Newsom is the new king. It's over, this state is going full socialist under Newsom. I want out.
  7. I think so. About the only exceptions I've seen are the Limousine Liberal types
  8. I know younger people who have turned fiscally conservative watching their liberal baby boomer parents not save for retirement. Really quite bizarre watching kids be more financially responsible than their parents.
  9. The California GOP is on the verge of extinction. The reason it's so lifeless is because the clubs and organizations promoting conservative principles are run by people in their 80's, who are literally dying off.
  10. You'd have to be a damn fool to donate to heroes. Here in Fullerton, a cop died several years ago from skin cancer. He blamed it on the City and his wife is now collecting his $75K pension, plus a worker's comp settlement. The guy died at age 41 and she started collecting when he would have been 45. She herself retired a couple years later. This "poor" widow is now receiving $177K a year.
  11. Just another day at the Fullerton Police Department. https://www.fullertonsfuture.org/2018/this-is-why-chief-hendricks-resigned/
  12. Maybe they could force Pujols to retire early by making him play catcher and have Angels pitchers hit him with pitches.
  13. As recently as 2016, the Angels were absolute worst, 30 out of 30, in pitches per plate appearance. Most other years, they were below average.
  14. I'm only talking about what was visible on the field. When player x refuses to work the count, grounds the first or second pitch to 2B over and over again, and jogs to 1B, what does that tell you about urgency or accountability? And especially when player X is hitting in the 1-2-3-4-5 spot? I get that players suck, but the least you can do in those situations is run up the pitcher's pitch count and run it out to 1B. It's not necessary to know what was said behind closed doors. Whatever was said, or not said, the message sent probably wasn't the correct one.
  15. The Angels have had lots of players who appeared to be going through the motions following a horrid team record in April/May. Minimal effort all around. Jogging to first base. Weak defense. Refusal to work the count to get on base, etc. Trout and Simmons would be exceptions to that, however.
  16. To me, "at or above potential" is maintaining career averages with a reasonable adjustment for older age. By the way, I think you will appreciate this: I think Pujols was Arte's mistake. The handling of Pujols in more recent years rests with Scioscia, but the fact it's an issue at all lies with the stupidity of the long term contract Arte gave him. Hamilton was 100% Arte's mistake.
