  1. "I am not a role model." --Charles Barkley
  2. You guys are no fun! I am bringing my vuvuzela next time!
  3. There are 36 games left. Angels are 76-50. Based on their current .600 winning percentage we could expect the Angels to finish the year 98-64. With the loss of Richards we instead expect a .566 winning percentage which means a 96-66 record. So the injury will probably cost us 2 games in the standings. Since we're 2 up on Oakland right now it's anyone division to take.
  4. Yes. He was shaky early in the year but since then solid.
  5. What about the two guys who are paid like aces?
  6. The article says the Angels have a .566 winning percentage in games in which Richard DOES NOT start. Since they are at .600 I have to imagine they are well over .600 when he does start.
  7. Richards. Has performed far above expectations. It's like signing an ace in the offseason.
  8. Yes, but we only had Street since July 19th.
  9. Sample size is small, but we finally got our Shield/K-Rod combo. I am confident if the Angels have the lead after 7 and WTF would have expected that a couple months back?
  10. If high fastballs are considered his major weakness then pitchers are going to be in for a helluva surprise when (not if) he figures out how to hit them. Talk about meatballs.
  11. How very sad, but at least we are not the Twins. Their all-time record for DH is just 42!
  12. I would not say RBI is a team stat. I don't need anyone on my team to do anything to get a RBI if I hit the ball hard enough.
  13. No, only 3 more years of Hamilton, thank goodness! At this rate I think I'd rather have Linda Hamilton at cleanup.
  14. I don't like the idea of giving pitchers MVP unless their performance is exceptional and by exceptional I mean "something no one else has ever done before." And, no, this recent "2 earned run or less streak" doesn't count. He doesn't even have a single shutout. If a pitcher did something crazy like throw 20 shutouts in a season then, sure, he's the MVP. The reason I don't like giving it to pitchers is that they only affect every fifth game at most unless they are a reliever. Also, is Hernandez really having a year that much better than Chris Sale? I think Trout is up there, but he's gotta turn it around in the last two weeks of August.
  15. Who was the last big free agent signing we had that panned out? Vlad, obviously. Maybe Hunter. Anyone else? I just recall a lot of loss.
  16. Cool. Always good to get 9 years older at a position!
  17. Richards also leads the league in BAA among qualified players. I don't think anyone expected this. It's nice to have a good surprise for once!
  18. Trumbo potentially still has upside. Pujols is just circling the drain.
  19. These types of signings are high risk/reward. These are not the types of signings the Angels should trade in. Neither should they be signing expensive guys on the downsides of their careers like Pujols. I am okay with the Hamilton signing because it is relatively short, but spending crazy money on an unproven commodity is stupid even if it happens to work out for someone else occasionally.
