  1. If he had just been Japanese, maybe MLB would have designated a day to commemorate it.
  2. With current medications, that isn't much of a curse anymore. Try again.
  3. His last good season before 2023 was in 2019. I am not for paying $20M per year for one good season every three or four years.
  4. Throwing a lot of money at a player based upon one good year doesn't usually work out. There is a significant chance that his 2023 season was an outlier, rather than being indicative of him suddenly figuring it all out.
  5. Realizing that my previous gift suggestions may not match everyone's musical tastes, I present the following alternatives. Containing the worldwide hit Two Minute Piss After a Trans-Atlantic Flight. What else would a woman do if a party is boring? Music for child molesters. Finally an answer to the question, "Why isn't there more music by kangaroos?" If you liked Sounds of the International Airport Restrooms, you'll love.... I can't think of anyone who exemplifies southern sexiness more.
  6. It's going to be hard for anyone to top the oddly-named Famous Toastery Bowl (a temporary relocation of the Bahamas Bowl to Charlotte while stadium renovations are completed) for sheer entertainment. Old Dominion jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Western Kentucky in the first quarter, eventually leading by 28 in the third. WKU tied the game on a 15-yard touchdown pass on fourth and goal with 19 seconds remaining to force OT. ODU got the ball first. Their QB was sacked on the first play, but they eventually made it to the WKU one with first and goal. The WKU defense held. ODU was going for it on fourth and goal, but a false start penalty forced them to attempt a field goal, which was blocked. WKU completed the comeback with a 29 yard field goal to win it.
  7. Always happy to help with last minute gift ideas. For the music lovers on your gift list. Lookin' a little masculine there, Gayle. I can't post the mental images that this brings up. Which one is Willie? I'm guessing that the guy at lower right is the namesake, and the rest are just auxiliary hicks. Has to be great with top notch artwork like this. The ladies will be flinging their panties on the stage. This kind of personal magnetism doesn't come around often.
  8. This town doesn't do anything half way. I don't have much experience in other NHL arenas, but games here are a show.
  9. Even assuming that there was a total match and the money was equal, if you're Ohtani, do you sign with a team pretty much guaranteed to make the post-season, or sign with one pretty much guaranteed not to? I was watching the Sabres-Golden Knights game a while ago. They were showing the Sabres' current playoff drought, the longest in the NHL. Then they showed playoff droughts in other major sports leagues for comparison. #1 in MLB? The Angels, tied with the Tigers. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Detroit Tigers are the yardstick against which this team is compared. Just in case you wonder why free agents won't sign here.
  10. I still had to change the channel when ESPN and MLBN started to show Ohtani in a Dodger uniform at his introductory press conference. I could have tolerated pretty much any other team.
  11. For me it was Guerrero followed by Hunter. I was glad to get Pujols, but I was very concerned about the length of the deal. Getting C.J. Wilson and Josh Hamilton seemed like we were gutting the Rangers, and their fans were not pleased. That turned out well.
  12. I hate them. As tired as I am of the all red scheme (another peeve of mine is lettering the same color as the jersey), those are awful.
  13. I had targeted the Minnesota game before the season. My best friend, who passed away in November 2022, was a huge Vikings fan. I'm sure that we would have gone to that game. After looking at prices I decided that it just wasn't feasible this close to the holidays. I didn't miss much. No points in the entire game until 1:57 left.
  14. It's hard to get tickets, and tickets are expensive. I considered going to the Minnesota game last Sunday, but passed because the cheapest ticket was about $180. I see a lot of people around town wearing Raiders gear, and the Raiders license plates seem to be reasonably popular.
  15. Coca-Cola cans from 1936. Look like cans of brake fluid.
