  1. Lol Eric, no real dodger stuff but I am looking for the right Jackie Robinson piece. If you look closer at the ranger stuff it is all Nolan Ryan. If you have read any of my Ryan posts you know that he is by far my favorite athlete of all time. Look closer at the fathead and you can see I covered the Texas "T" with a Big A. This was my first attempt at posting with pics. Glad it came out as well as it did.
  2. Torii had a great final season with us. If he had played all five years like the final year he would have never been allowed to leave.
  3. When rose that was asked his opinion about his preseason picks he started every answer with " I don't know". I am not sure" or its hard to say. Then proceeded to say the angels should make the playoffs but picked 5 other teams. He is an insider but never gets the scoop. Watch him later this summer as we approach the trade deadline he will seem to just make shit up.
  4. I couldn't believe my good luck that splint7438 wasn't already snatched up. I have also been known as unkadoug. But y'all can call me Doug or the elder Stradling.
  5. I would skip ingredients if I had to so that my food was edible. The concept is really good but they need to use more common basket ingredients. Ali- Kazai!
  6. I have dated lots of people I met on a train. I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like you met some freak on the bus. I shudder at the thought of bus dating.
  7. He had four 0-2 counts move to 3-2 counts. As of he fifth inning.
  8. This show would be so much better if you could actually buy the ingredients at your local grocery store. But get serious the basket has fruit loops, goat balls, cheese made from mouse milk and kale roots. The dessert round starts now! Give me a gnikcuf break. And then every chef has a sad tragic story about why they are trying to win the money and tell how they have a life long dream of being chopped champion. It is an insult to my clearly superior intellect. I know if I cooked from the basket my food would be edible.
  9. Tilted kilt is fairly close for game day shenanigans. The food is pretty good and a decent selection of beers.
  10. How about "Hamilton cut down his swing with two strikes". Never hear that phrase..
  11. Have always used the word bitchin'. It's a bitchin' word and should be worked into any bitchin' conversation to show how bitchin' you are.
  12. We are overdo for a beginning to end ass coking of the other team. This team used to be built to run aggressively on the bases. Three times on this home stand we have run into extra outs. I am so ready to just play smart baseball.
  13. Hamilton using his unique set of skills to help the rangers into he playoffs for the fourth straight year. Seriously ho, how do you have an entire team with zero focus? At least hey play decent on the road earlier even if we didn't get the results we wanted. But home cooking has not helped at all. I am beginning to think maybe mikes approach is not right for the make up of this team.
  14. Am I the only one that thinks Kemp only got mad because he knew Greinke was protecting him? Kemp had to have police intervention because he went after Quentin AFTER THE GAME !!! Hairston also should have a longer suspension for starting the brawl up again after things were calmed down. Greinke being hurt was a total fluke. Injuries almost never occur during a baseball "fight". To think that kemp and Hairston shouldn't be suspended at least as long as Quentin is not being objective and seeing how these two behaved in the aftermath of the HBP. Kemps actions after the game off the field of play demands action by the commissioner. Too bad hat won't happen.
  15. Crosscut blade for a smooth cut. A rip blade for a fast cut. This is amazing because usually there is no blades o the tools on display. It had to be a miter/chop saw or a band saw. Whenever i cut up bodies i like to freeze them first so there is less blood and less binding.
  16. Hij the azhalofan. I saw your note to me in a tag and email. I have been unable to locate it here on the board tho. I am a big Nolan Ryan fan and I have some Ryan stuff but not a lot. I have cards, shirts, a giant fathead that dominates a wall in my bar, and a few other things like that. I suppose the coolest Ryan artifact I have is a ball signed by Ryan and Frank Robinson when they were both on the Angels. I believe he is the best power pitcher to ever play the game. He is integrity personified. I cried when he spoke at his induction into the HOF. Meeting him at such a young age and having such a positive experience is probably why I am a sports fan today. Probably why I am so outgoing because being a sports fan I can always find something to talk to other people about. I just find him larger than the game itself. In your note you mentioned that he lived on Romneya. I didn't mention that but you are exactly right. He was a block or so from Thomas Edison elementary in the only house with a circle driveway. Did you live in this area as well? My wife and I live in corona now but still work in anaheim and visit friends there all of the time. Thanks for noticing my post and I look forward to getting to know you through the board.
  17. I remember going to games in the early 70's and if Ryan or Tanana wasnt pitching the crowds were scarce. Everybody seemed to get a foul ball. They had archery practice in the seats down the first base line. Later in the 70's as a teenager we would wonder up to the top row and smoke pot. LOL funny how things change. Hasnt been too long ago we were allowed to smoke in our seats. My best friend way back then would get tickets from his mom. She was a manager at the Howard Johnson Hotel on harbor. That is where the umpires stayed when they were in town. Seats under the old net behind the plate.I remember thinking even back then that I had better seats than the umpire because I could see that those pitches werent strikes!!!! I am unapologetic in that I demand that our team play well. I know we can play well and lose and that is easier to handle than losing while playing bad. Even as a kid you could tell the guys that didnt hustle and it ticked me off. LOL such a burden on a little kid! Trying to make your team play up to a 10 year oldsstandards.
  18. Wow! What a great idea for a thread. As a kid I went to school in Anaheim and Nolan Ryan lived in a house on my way to school. We would stop and knock on his door and ask if Nolan Ryan really lived there. His wife Ruth was so patient because she would always answer the door and hand out 8x10 signed pictures of Ryan. Looking back I know she recognized the same kids always coming to the door. The day that the man actually answered the door is the day I knew there would never be another team for me. He was HUGE! And I was speechless. Which says a lot if you have ever met me. He basically held my hand through the handing out of yet another 8x10 pic. He was just so nice and had that texas drawl that seperated him from all the other players. I had been a casual fan before this and I chose to follow the Angels because our brother Paul was a dodger fan. Typical sibling rivalry stuff. The knocking on Ryans door happened in 1972. So hardcore since 1972. Nolan Ryan is my favorite athlete/celebrity of all time from any sport. I am lucky enough to have watched him play at a high level from grade school into my 30's. Not many can say that about their favorite player. My favorite baseball player of all time however is Scott Stradling. Knowing I had a small part in his developement as a player and as a man fills me with great pride.I remember taking Stradling to a lot of games when he was a kid. Including the division clinching game in 86 when all of the fans poured onto the field. We had a great team that year and I think we would have beat the Mets if we had gotten past some other team first. I think that was the year i started my prediction every year that the Angels were going to win the series. Same prediction every year since. The first year I thought we had a chance was the 1978 season. That is the year the "YES WE CAN" chant started. There was an overall sense in the stadium that we were into something special. The fans felt it. Of course we had to wait one more year to finally win the West, but us fans knew the Angels were charging fast. We played a lot of good baseball over the next 10 years or so but had a lot of heartbreak too. I went to my first World Series game in game 2 at angel stadium. I was there for their first WS win. Two Salmon homers. And a Bonds homer that I think went into orbit. The Chinese are going to land on Bonds homer ball and plant their flag. Ok so I may have touched on a few too many threads here. Thank you so much for the forum to share. Fan since 1970. I love you scott more than life itself. Let me know if there was a different story you wanted me to tell.
  19. Order this book? Um wouldnt that make it 101 things Angels fans should do before they die? I willl probably order it because it talks about my youth. I remember Nolan Ryan pitching for my Angels. He is still my favorite athlete or celebrity of any kind of all time. I am lucky enough to have been able to watch my childhood hero perform at a high level from the time I was 8 or so until I was in my 30's. Not too many people can say that.
  20. How many lawyer jokes are there? Just two, the rest are true stories.
  21. I can't wait until we get box scores online when the season starts!
  22. We really enjoyed the table side service by Eric and Brian at Milagros at breakfast. And you know there is a God when those two were in character atthe Fiesta and not the Tilted Kilt. Eric in plaid would not be good for anyone trying to eat.
