A couple of us Angels fans here in Las Vegas were thinking of hitting Aces and Ales near Cheyenne & the 95 for opening day.

If anyone else is interested, please come on down, it should be a fun time.

This is going to be totally informal and there are zero plans to do anything other than consume bar food, watch Angels baseball and enjoy a few adult beverages.

So, if you're in the Las Vegas area and are interested, stop by.

    Edited for cross-street error.

Looking forward to meeting you and the wife, HaloFromVegas. DerekGMZ is tentative at this point due to potential work schedule.

Here's hoping for an opening day win!

With all the new rules being handed down on this message board, please, for the love of all things holy, can we have a rule that says when linking an article, you MUST include the author's name? Not "Orange County Register: And Furthermore... another Arte snub" but "TJ Simers: And Furthermore... another Arte snub". It's the same amount of work (less even) and much more informative about the subject.

And in other breaking news, it's hot in Vegas during the Summer, water is wet, and pigs still can't fly.
If you weren't aware of this at the end of last year, let alone since December, you can't call yourself an Angels fan. This team is built with a rotation, no matter how hard you try to spin it.
The phrase Tanana, Ryan and three days of cryin' comes to mind with this team. Maybe Wilson, Weaver and three days of shiverin'.

If Mulder makes it out of Spring Training and onto the Angels Opening Day Roster, I'll buy a beer for any Angelswin.com member that shows up at a local Vegas watering hole (probably Aces and Ales) during his first regular season start (good during the first week of April only, no Opening Day Roster DL stints qualify).

I know this thread topic is ripe for being troll "ish", but that's not the intention, far from it.

After last year's debacle of an off-season, it seems the Angels are poised to make a repeat of last year.

Again, I am as much of an Angels Fan as they come, and want to see them go to the post season as much as anyone, but they have obviously struggled over the last few years and need to right the ship, which it seems their lack of interest in the free-agent market this off-season might indicate.

Now that Pitchers and Catchers have reported, based on the way the Angels approached the their off-season this year, they look to be in the re-building phase (and I applaud them for that).

My question is, will they look to make panic moves like they did last season, or will they accept their fate of not competing this year or next (yes, it will take at least 2-3 years to rebuild) in favor of making a longer term runs for the 2016-2020 years when they could be the dominant force in baseball, if they play their cards right over the next couple of years?

The reason I bring this up is because I remember the years of Autry, where they oscillated back and forth every other year from a "win it now" philosophy to a "build for the future" philosophy, which never ended up well.

Will the Angels be able to spend the next 2-3 years building for a 4-6 year run in the late half of this decade? Or will they panic in the face of criticism that they are only a piece or two away and give up their potential for the now?

Vegas does not make predictions on standings. Vegas makes predictions on how they believe people will place their bets. Then the line moves accordingly to influence betters into a 50/50 split on both sides.

Picked up the HP Pavilion X2 yesterday (using it now to post this).
It's a laptop where the screen pops off and becomes a tablet and runs the full version of Windows 8.1.
So far, I like it, although I have been running into some issues as far as navigation is concerned, but that's more of the learning curve than anything else, I think.
The thing I like most of all about it is its ability to run anything I have for my desktop, and its ability to "just work".
I'm still playing around with it so far, though, so I have yet to run full functionality on it. But I got this because I had an IPad before and it was great for fun stuff, but sucked monkey balls for doing anything work related.

So this year DiPoto isn't waiting until the end of Spring Training to go dumpster diving for the pitching, he's starting early! Granted, it's minimal damage, but still, if the Angels are trying to solve their pitching woes by taking a chance on a guy who last threw a pitch in the Bush Administration, they have given up even trying to do anything this season, not that this is a bad thing. As I have been saying for the past SEVERAL off-seasons, the Angels need to enter that dreaded "Re-build". Yeah, I know that's a dirty word 'round these here parts, but the holes the Angels have are far too vast a chasm to cross with a few bandaids anymore.

Of all the things that professional athletes are getting arrested for recently (animal abuse, drug use, murder, wife abuse, tax evasion, etc) going 110 on the highway seems like the least offensive reason. Now, if he was simultaneously getting a hummer from a Taiwanese Ladyboy while snorting coke off the dash, that would be a different story.

This rule does not go far enough.

New rules that need to be enforced.

    1. If the outfielder touches the wall in an effort to catch the ball, it is immediately determined to be a home run.
    2. If the pitcher touches the ball first after the ball makes contact with the bat, the batter is considered out.
    3. If a defender is in possession of the ball within 6 feet of the base to make a force out prior to the runner tagging the base, the out shall be awarded.
    4. If 3 defenders touch the ball on a single basepath between 2 distinct bases that a single runner possesses, the runner shall be considered out.

Come one MLB, you need to protect the players. Get it done!

Amazon Prime is good for a couple of reasons. If you're not the "I need it now" person, you can save a ton of money on things that you would normally purchase in stores because you don't have to worry about delivery fees at all. Also, they have a video streaming service that's pretty solid and on par with Netflix (I cancelled my Netflix recently as a result. It's not as good, but the overlap was such that it didn't make sense to carry both). They make the initial $80 outlay worth it quickly (Think of it more like $8 a month for streaming movies where you get free shipping as a bonus and it becomes easier to pay.) I originally got it because I ordered a TV and the delivery charge was going to be $150, unless I got the Prime for a year at $80 (gee, big decision there). I've renewed ever since and never even thought about dropping the service.

The biggest concern I have with Amazon Prime is when they try to save a few bucks because of the flat rate and use OnTrac, quite possibly the single shittiest delivery service here in town. I'm running about a 20% success rate when Amazon uses them. USPS, UPS, FedEx, all of them, when I place the order, Boom, I know it will be on my doorstep at the latest by 1:30PM on the date promised. With OnTrac the shipments have disappeared, been delayed (by days), they've claimed delivery attempts made while I had the front door open and no one showed, I even had to race across town at the crack of stupid because the delivery driver claimed he was turned away by the front gate because he didn't know the code, they were already 3 days late and I needed the package because I was leaving town that afternoon.

Eric got a reaction from katie in "Regular Women" in lingerie
It's interesting how the media defines "regular" as ugly and/or fat (usually both). I guess it's an attempt to make the real "regular" women think to themselves "Hey, I'm thinner/less ugly than the 'regular' woman, I must be kinda hot! Look out world, I'ma go clubbing tonight in my sexiest clothes cause I got it going on" Then they stampede through the streets to dance to techno beats all the while thinking to themselves that the reason why they're not getting hit on is that the guys are just intimidated by them. They finish off the evening by stopping by the store to pick up a half gallon of Fudgy Wudgy swirl and in an alcohol induced haze, polish off the entire thing in one sitting only to complain the next day that they've tried everything in their power to lose weight and nothing works so they're going to start counting points again today until they spy that the chocolate bowl on Gary from Accounting's desk is filled up again, but they wouldn't want Gary to see them eating too much so they wait until Gary is gone for lunch and leave him just an empty bowl except for the few crumbs of chocolate that seeped through the wrappers because, you know, they're not that desparate for chocolate until they start surfing the web and see that the girls on Huffington Post's article on 'regular' women have nothing on them so they feel hawt again all over.
