Yes We Can got a reaction from Taylor in Angels GM Search Thread - down to Justin Hollander and Perry Minasian, Minasian is the frontrunner
    Seriously?
Eppler left us with five straight losing seasons. He failed. It doesn't matter what he inherited. The team never got better with him.
Never better in his half decade of effort.
I wish him well and hope he connects with Jeter in Miami but his time in Anaheim was a failure.

Well, based on this article alone and what was posted on Hollander...
    IMO Arte will chose Hollander.

    This kinda sucks.
But honestly we just don't know how the off-season will play out. It's unlike any off-season we've seen before.
I just hope we can improve the roster somehow.

the trade market is gonna be challenging with teams trying to save money along with continuing the expanded playoffs.  Teams will hold on to young cheap talent like sweet death.
the competitive advantage in this market will be the willingness to spend or take on money in trade.  Again, I just don't see the Angels doing that to it's fullest extent.
I also don't see that many players will be willing to accept less money on deals more than a year or two.  There's gonna be a crap ton of 1yr contracts this year.
There's risk in this but if they really like a free agent that they want to keep for more than a year, they should consider paying him less in 2021 and 'normal' beyond that

I wonder if it's not just an Arte thing. Stoneman and Carpino did the first round and were leading this. Carpino and Arte, in my opinion, are guys that shouldn't be involved with baseball operations.

I like the idea of signing Blake Treinen  and maybe Jake McGee.
The Dodgers have an abundance of bullpen talent so those guys may not be re-signed. They have 5 more years of control with Graterol, 3 with Floro, 6 with Gonzalez, 3 with Kolarek and 4 with Ferguson. They also have Kelly signed for two more years and Jensen for 1.

I was referencing the tendency of Arte to kind of get too involved in personnel decisions sometimes. Obviously not to Jerry's level but I think both teams would be better off if they stepped back a little.
And they do both have really nice Yachts...

From the outside looking it seems like he gets too involved at times and needs to back off a bit. Kind of a Jerry Jones syndrome. For example, I don't know that Mark Walter is as involved in the day to day as much as Arte. Who knows?
It's his team so he can do what he wants but when it impedes progress it's concerning as a fan.

Yep. He should get every opportunity to win the position in Spring Training, or at least the platoon job versus RHP's. I think Matt Thaiss will get a look also.
Looks like Pujols may go into retirement splitting time between 1B/DH and playing maybe 80 games.

There’s some sort of disconnect between Moreno and franchise progress.   It does seem that he mainly is interested in the one aspect of the franchise that he knows: marketing/advertising.
Things won’t change until scouting and development become just as important to him.

No real reason why, but I’m starting to hope the Angels do wind up signing Kolten Wong. Just a good feeling about it.

ok? i don't know what that's supposed to mean.
people push the same ideas, and it just becomes accepted as fact, when very little of it, if any, is actual fact.

Yes We Can reacted to Second Base in Ohtani pitching in 2021
The Angels need pitching, and if we're being specific, could really use an ace. We have a kid here, that's fully capable of being the best damn pitcher in baseball. I think too many people have forgotten just how good Shohei Ohtani is on the mound.
Put him out there once a week. Let him play baseball. Don't be jaded by the past. It's a new season, he's rested and entering his prime.
If he gets hurt, then you put him on the DL and do your best to move on. But what you don't do is limit him. The baseball world deserves better than that.
Because if Shohei is healthy, then he's going to be a force to be reckoned with, the likes of which modern baseball has never seen before, or may ever see again.

I'm not saying let's trade away the farm at all. Adell isn't "the farm". He's not even a prospect anymore.
If the Angels are to keep Upton then at some point there is an odd man out. So if it was a prospect swap like Adell and Plesac would that make you happy?

Trading Adell only makes sense if we're getting a pitcher with 3+ years of control.
Not a 1 year rental shortstop that will also handicap our finances towards adding a pitcher. Forget Bauer, that would probably take us out of the running for Stroman.
I just don't see any possibility where this makes sense. Even if Cleveland salary dumps him, we need that money for pitching.

Yes. We discussed Wong yesterday. He is a more viable option for MIF.
But if we can create a bundle for Lindor and Plesac it would be great.
And the Angels have Pujols and Upton coming off the payroll the next two years. They could re-sign Lindor.

He will have plenty of phone calls...
But if what you say is true about it being hard to move him then i'd easily throw Adell at it and ask for a package that included Plesac or McKenzie

they're not trading plesac. i think there's barely any package that a team would realistically offer right now to get him.

The way you phrase it makes it sound like they will struggle to find a team to take Lindor.
They will not.  Lindor is a very good player.  Some team (Mets? Braves?) will trade prospects for him.  We cannot "leverage" taking Lindor off their hands and get Pleasac in the process.
The only trade we should be looking into with the Indians is flipping Adell for Pleasac directly.   Indians need OFers and we need pitching.  Seems like an ideal matchup.
Fletcher can play SS.  Sign someone like Wong or Hernandez for a very small price (5mil/yr?) to play 2b instead.

    I agree with @OhtaniSan.
Take Lindor and his 1/21 M contract off the Indians hands but leverage it to get Plesac and his 5 years of control.
I would include Adell and either Rengifo/Ward in a package.

Would love to see a trade involving Lindor and one of their pitchers like Plesac or McKenzie. Maybe something along the lines of:
    Angels get: Lindor (+21mil), Plesac
Indians get: Adell, Suarez, JerJackson, (possibly additional prospects? I'm eye balling it here)

    Rotation:
    1. Plesac   2. Bundy  3. Heaney   4. Canning   5. Taj Walker (2yr/16mil)  6. Ohtani
    Lineup:
    1. Fletcher 2B   2. Lindor SS   3. Trout CF   4. Rendon 3B   5. Walsh 1B   6. Ohtani DH   7. Upton LF (Marsh when ready)   8. Ward RF   9. Stassi C
    Pen:
Hand (2yr/14mil), Mayers, Barria, Pena, Buttrey, Middleton, Sandoval

I think this team wins the division. Ideally, we could extend Lindor as well.
