  1. Here's some info I found regarding him & the interest that the Sox may have given their "Cuban Connection"... https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/white-sox-eying-next-big-cuban-star/ There Could Be A Big Delay… Unfortunately, there may be a problem signing Rodriguez in the near future. While there have been reports that the Dragons have not been able to contact him since defecting to the Dominican, he is still under contract. Since he is still under contract, the Dragons have to still allow him to become a free agent. For a player as valuable as Rodriguez, there is little incentive to do so for nothing in return. A source that covers the Nippon Professional league also detailed how it could get more complicated than that. They said how “granting him an immediate release will piss off the Cuban Baseball Federation.” Apparently “Chunichi and the CBF are in good graces, and hurting that relationship will damage Chunichi’s Cuban pipeline. They don’t want to do that.” They also said that if an MLB team does sign him, it would be taken to the Japanese courts, and they would likely rule in favor of the Japanese club and make the MLB team pay some extra compensation to make up for it. This could become a messy situation for everyone involved, but if it all gets resolved, I imagine the White Sox will be all over it, as he could become a valuable pitcher for them in the near future.
  2. Good luck to whoever picks him up as he is so up & down...
  3. Honestly guys...with so much riding on this season...I think there needs to be an immediate reconsideration of entrusting it to Phil Nevin. I mean, his 1 year extension made sense from a continuity stand-point when Arte put the team up. But now, with Arte staying...is a 2nd year "rookie" manager (despite his expereience) who made as many/more terrible in-game decisions his predecessor did, really the guy who you want leading the team forward now? I mean...I know it's late to be thinking/making such a move. But, with the "pluses" that have been added to address an, admittedly, deficient roster, this too was a weakness that team suffered from/much acknowledge now as well.
  4. Quite, literally, it is/was the worst movie I have ever seen. I mean...no other movie is even close...
  5. The outfielder paced Indians batters and ranked among league leaders in average By Anna Kayser September 23, 2022 INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Indians today announced outfielder Jared Oliva as their September Player of the Month as he currently ranks fifth among all International League qualifiers with a .375 average (24-for-64) through 18 games. Oliva, 26, is also tied for fifth with seven doubles and tied for ninth in base hits among league leaders for the month. He has hit safely in 14 of his 18 games, seven of which were multi-hit contests. Half of his six three-hit games for the season have come since Sept. 7 (1). His month was highlighted by an inside-the-park home run on Sept. 15 vs. Toledo, the first of his career and first by an Indians batter at Victory Field since Alen Hanson on July 1, 2015. In September, Oliva paces the team in average, on-base percentage (.429), total hits, doubles and extra-base hits (9, tied with teammate Blake Sabol). The campaign continues a hot streak that dates back to Aug. 3 (2), and in that time frame he owns a .388 average (40-for-103) with 19 runs scored, 15 extra-base hits, 20 RBI and nine stolen bases in 30 games. The Santa Clarita, Calif. native was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the seventh round (208th overall) of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arizona.
  6. Yeah...lol...like they've all been over the past 8 years at this time. Or to be more aptly put...
  7. "It’s Nightengale, so I don’t know how much truth there is here." OK, so, back on October 2nd when you said this about him (regarding his comments that I posted on the Angels managerial search) now....on the 9th, he/his reporting is credible given his sources? I mean, dude...it would appear that your impressions about him & his reporting are as inconsistent as they are absurd...
  8. Um...I think you want to blame Minasian for most of these right? I mean...no fan of Joe's whatsoever as, I would, definitely like to forget all of his idiotic, in-game decisions that cost the Angels wins. But, sadly I can't because only in the world of make-believe has Nevin not equaled or even, seemingly, surpassed him in this department that no one can deny or even begin to debate...
  9. Yes...because only when compared to Maddon can Minasian (even remotely) look good/competent...
  10. Glad to see that the Angels are worthy of your respect then lol...
  11. LOL...I don't know what your beef is with Nightengale...but to condemn him for making these connections as others/many on this site have as well is absurd...

  13. The Los Angeles Angels would love to have Bochy, too, but with the franchise up for sale, it’s possible they stick with interim Phil Nevin (44-57) one more season. If not, former Rockies manager Walt Weiss, now Atlanta’s bench coach, could be the favorite. Former Blue Jays manager John Gibbons, who was with GM Perry Minasian in Toronto, should also be under consideration. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2022/10/02/tony-la-russa-expected-announce-retirement-white-sox-manager/8153641001/ Also, along with the all of the great information is this piece...I found this snippet as well regarding the Mariners which would be too funny if it happens... It would be awfully cruel for the Seattle Mariners to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2001, but still not play a game in front of their own fans. The Mariners have to win the top wild-card berth ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays to host the best-of-three first-round series. If they don’t win the first round, the Mariners’ fans won’t see them again until March 30, 2023, for opening day.
  14. Wait...so the Angels score 2 runs in the 1st & then no more all game against the f'n Rangers? Wow...that's almost beyond belief FFS...
  15. Whose idea was he in the 1st place? I mean, it's just another example of Perry's extremely poor judgement in a series of pathetic signings this season.
  16. Here's an article back in early September from Forbes that provides some interesting information (1 piece that I highlighted below) via MSN... https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/news/the-angels-have-several-interested-buyers-right-out-of-the-gate-including-one-from-japan/ar-AA11ENj2 For potential buyers, however, the Angels have a couple key things going for them. The team is expected to make a sizable profit this year and has very little debt. And unlike the Washington Nationals, who’ve been on the block for months, the Angels have no deferred player contract liabilities beyond this season.
  17. It's now possible but let's hope not... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/09/giants-claim-jharel-cotton-designate-willie-calhoun.html Additionally, infielder Jose Rojas, who was designated for assignment on Friday, cleared waivers and elected free agency.
  18. The Angels current rankings in case anyone was wondering...
  19. I can't imagine that someone who is truly interested in buying the Angels would not want to do so in the shortest time-frame possible. In that, they will not only have a chance to extend such a marketable, once-in-a-lifetime talent like Ohtani but, given the impressive list of 2023 free-agents, the impetus (if they can get it done) will be there to try & sign 1 or more to reap an immediate ROI/improve the team same. Which will also include a high draft pick as well.
