  1. Wow...another blown opportunity with RISP. Why has so many, for so long been so wasted...
  2. Wow...up by 2 with 2 Rangers on with Estevez pitching & no outs. Anyone else got a deja vu feeling?
  3. From that video...it appears pretty clear that the players aren't even listening to him at this point...
  4. As we all know...many players have trouble living up to an expectation (ie "a bar being set") & could very well be one of the underlying problems with the current squad. I mean, take how some of the young players were rushed in their development only to, now, face the incessant pressure (especially this season) to "win now or we'll lose #17" further pressed by a rabid media as well. I mean...it hasn't been talked about much here but if the pressure to make the playoffs has been felt by the fans (as I can attest I've experienced) isn't it likely to be many times worse for the players in that clubhouse & could be a reason why some have regressed? I know it's fun to blame Wise but could this, also, be a contributing factor? As it might explain Ohtani's pitching problems/physical ailments this season. As, maybe, he's been pushing himself even harder not just to win but, because he wants to stay an Angel?
  5. My condolences to you and your family for a beloved and wonderful man gone too soon.
  6. Lol...yes because such moves have worked so well for them in the past. But, when you're thin...
  7. While it may be true that Arte LIKES Nevin...it can be argued that he LOVED Joe. So much so that he fired Aumus and ate the 2 years he still had remaining on his contract. Also...regarding scapegoating....yes, if the Angels fall out of contention/the organization fails to resign Ohtani...Nevin will likely be the fall-guy in Arte's attempt to deflect blame/to save face. Besides...he was only given a 1-year deal for continuity/a bridge to a new owner/group so there was that too.
  8. J.D. Hammer LAARelief Pitcher#64 Angels signed RHP J.D. Hammer to a minor league contract. The 29-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since he was a member of the Phillies during the 2021 season. He had been pitching for the Lake Erie Crushers in the independent Frontier League where he registered a 3.46 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 46/20 K/BB ratio over 52 innings. Aug 1, 2023, 10:21 PM CDT
  9. C'mon guys there's still a chance with 3 players up who haven't registered a single hit all game....sigh!
  10. Unless Nevin decides to do something more exotic...in which case, the Angels lose by 3...
  11. Great production tonight from Moose so let's just hope it continues for the rest of the season...
  12. Very sad news indeed as I too have always enjoyed your posts Lou &, like many others, have appreciated the intelligence & knowledge you have always brought to this board. That you generously imparted among those of us who were willing to be enlightened & the humor you used to try to "reach" those who weren't as receptive. But, regardless, thank you very much Lou for your wit & wisdom & my very best to you & to your family. As, if it's true that no one is truly gone until everyone whose lives they have touched has passed...your wonderful presence will be here forever!
  13. Given this...he, clearly, is a less desirable option at this point...
  14. Given Ward's injury last night & the fact that he's being squeezed off of the Cardinals roster...I think Dylan Carlson would be a quality, low-cost gamble.
