I think many were pissed that the team's prospects were traded for such relics as Giolito, Cron & Escobar. As, I was really hoping that Perry would, have, again, targeted some younger prospects that, like Moniak, were in need of fresh start elsewhere. Like a Dylan Carlson (before he got hurt) who would have been (or, may yet be) an intriguing target (from the Cardinals) given his upside and that his family is originally from Elk Grove. You know...just like when Perry traded Marsh but was able to get O'Hoppe in return, which softened the blow/loss considerably...

Just for the record, his name is actually Davis Daniel but it still applies...

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/09/angels-activate-ben-joyce-zach-neto.html The Angels announced this afternoon that they had activated right-hander Ben Joyce from the 60-day injured list and shortstop Zach Neto from the 10-day injured list. In corresponding moves, first baseman Trey Cabbage and left-hander Kolton Ingram were optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. Anaheim’s 40-man roster stands at 39 after activating Joyce.

I told him, essentially, the same thing in another thread... -
Tim Salmon & Chuck Finley to be in-dugout "advisors"
khouse replied to jsnpritchett's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
To continue to push this narrative that anyone is blaming Nevin, solely, for the problems this season is pure fantasy. As, many here have taken Arte, Perry, the training staff & the reliance on sabermetrics to task for the regression/problems the team has experienced this year. So, whereas the problems, obviously, are more than just Nevin, he is being held "accountable" for his poor in-game adjustments...which, are real...have cost the team wins & were evident/a problem in 2022 as well... -

So rather then, say...hiring a President of Baseball Operations which, you know, is really more of a fad anyway? -

Does anyone know if this was Perry's or Arte's idea? -
Up the dosages of what we usually imbibe just to get us through a season...

Yes & whereas he has, indeed seen a dip in his career #'s (which, honestly I don't care about) my comment was in regard (as I should have explained) to his contribution to a team that only saw a total of 30 doubles (Ohtani) last season. Likewise, as I've stated previously...the lack of production by him/others could very well be blamed on the increased/incessant pressure this season by the club/media to make to playoffs or lose a once-in-a-lifetime generational talent. Which none of us can speak to nor deny may be having a negative impact overall...

Yes...an improved knowledge of situational hitting to advance runners would be a great improvement. But, while this is great...I've often wondered about the team's overall "IQ". As, it is quite odd that the team's use of analytics seems to be so shrouded in mystery. As it would be great to know how they are being used in the players they draft and, especially the free agents they sign. As with Escobar, Moose, Gritchuk & Cron I would love to know how they were applied (if it all) & if so...what did the metrics say about their past or present use (or misuse) that made them attractive targets & what was the projected impact each were expected to have?

Well, suck it up Mary! As the commitment you made to the Angels came with the knowledge of the sacrifices that you/your body and your family agreed to make as well. Besides that...what about the fans who, also have experienced difficulty getting out of bed somedays? Unable to impress people with their knowledge or to spend time with family because of their commitment to the team. I mean...haven't they too, for years, gotten the short end of the stick in dealing with no "offense" from y'all?
