If Schanuel could just reach 30 doubles in a season and have a .360+ OBP, I could live with 8-10 HRs.

Got to give him props for taking 2nd base on that infield pop-up.

3 for 4 is a pretty good day, being responsible for 2 runs scored. Adell being one of them as a pinch runner. 

But what's his exit velo? lol
Honestly I don't care if he goes back to his old weak ass contact self but he's getting on base via the walk and singles, occasional doubles down the line. 

A real savvy baseball mind. Led some Cardinal teams further than many expected. Also one of the first baseball cards I found in a Topps pack when I was a kid. I recall he had a crewcut and a big wad of chewing tobacco bulging from his cheek. I actually have his autograph on a piece of paper, also signed by Roger Maris, who was a close lifelong friend. I think they both played for the old Kansas City A's early in their careers. The Maris auto is part of a display I have along with the entire 1961 Yankees team. My favorite team as a small kid, but who I despised since Steinbrenner.

Eh sucks that we lost but we’re still around first and .500 in a year we shouldn’t be, in the midst of a really rough schedule month. And there were a lot of positives today with Soriano, O’Hoppe and Moniak homering, and the guys at least hanging in there. Should have won the game, but they still had some wins in there. Fulmer got the loss, yeah, but between last outing and the start of this one, he looks like he could be handy to have if they don’t DFA him tomorrow for a fresh arm.
Seeing Soriano potentially become a starter and O’Hoppe continuing to prove he could be a legit star on both sides of the plate matters a lot more than one win to me this year.

Baseball is a funny game.

he was a really good baseball man. glad we had him in anaheim for at least a little while. buddy of mine is a cards fan and can't stop talking about what a great mind for baseball he had.

Tomorrow could be big if Soriano can pitch. Build his confidence as a starter. Hopefully Sandoval can also build around today's game.

I just watched it on PVR. A few observations.
Solid work from Sandoval. He could have blown up but hung in there. 
Thais had the big hit. One of the few times multiple runs were driven in without a homer. 
Moore wasn't sharp but got away without big damage. 
Sano is a pleasant surprise. He has as good plate discipline as anyone. 
Rendon actually producing steadily. Maybe the worst is over. 
Trout and Ward add to their leaderboard stats. 
Tomorrow will be a challenge on the mound. 

Send Schanuel down, have Thaiss play 1B and call Wallach up to be backup catcher? 

I want Schanuel to get his ABs but I can’t stand Thaiss behind the plate but I think last year showed he can be a serviceable bat (his bat started to slow down when he was being asked to also catch every single day). Wonder if taking catching duties away from him lets him focus more on hitting and we see those numbers increase. It’s clear the staff wants to work Ohoppe like a dog behind the plate so why not find a way to get Thaiss and his bat in there more often. Can’t be any worse than what Schanuel is showing rn as much as I love his patience at the plate

I am just so happy to see Rendon hitting consistently lately. His bat being what it can be has been a major missing ingredient these last few seasons.
