  1. Time to get back to some football on Sunday!
  2. I could see the Dogs packaging Puig (solid Cuban population in South Florida) and whichever prospects to get Stanton, who grew up in the S.F. Valley. Puig has a year left before becoming a FA. If he flourishes in Miami, they can re-sign him for far less than Stanton is making.
  3. LOL, after all, HR balls aren't worth as much since HRs are becoming a dime a dozen. Unless they are true blasts like Springer's 450 footer.
  4. O's had been several games back of the Brewers as time ran down on the season. They came back, including two straight over the Brewers that last weekend in Baltimore to tie them. But alas, the magic ran out in game 162, as the Brewers routed them by something like an 11-0 final. Yount, iirc, hit 2 HRs that day as Dempsey was likely catching for the O's. Hence the Yount improv during the aforementioned rain delay
  5. His goofy impersonation of Robin Yount's game# 162 in the 1982 season, during one particular rain delay, was a classic.
  6. You barely beat me. I was going to say O’Day. The Merkle clue gave it away.
  7. How to pitch well late in 2017 WS games: by Kenley Jansen
  8. Yep, Figgy was a total bust in Seattle. Weird, since he was still a solid hitter when leaving the Halos and was only 31/32
  9. Jerry Dipussy, aka Harold T. Hill
  10. Things shorter in length than a 2017 WS game: Reading War and Peace
  11. Next two games will be very interesting. Astros will have the solid in 2017 Peacock as well as McHugh to back up McCullers and Morton. Darvish has usually been dominant in Minute Maid Park, but McCullers' breaking pitches are a pain for MLB hitters. Tonight could well be low scoring, although the Astros did seem to find their hitting groove in the 8th inning Wednesday in scoring 6 runs in the 8th-11th innings after scoring just 2 runs in the first 16 innings. Game 4 's Wood vs Morton matchup is where anything could happen.
  12. Spiez did get one more WS ring, along with David Eckstein, with St.L. in 2006. He even had maybe his best MLB season in 2006, .862 OPS in some 300 at bats. His MLB career will always be remembered though for his 2002 season.
  13. Actual anniversary will be in about 9 hours. I remember letting out a yell, okay several, while others were heard in my neighborhood doing the same. After scaling the roof at my house to watch the fireworks at the stadium, I then walked to downtown Orange where the circle was taken over by a brigade of cars, trucks, and vans circling the circle for a few minutes, honking. Great times!
  14. It's better than when he first came up in 2011. But yeah, it's no better than a shade below average for a CF.
  15. Everyone assumes Sosh was behind the plate in 1988 for the WS clinching K, but yep, it was Dempsey.
  16. Don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about these next two games. ASU is heating up, in more ways than one, and even plays defense now. UofA's offense will move the ball almost at will on USC's suddenly mediocre defense. Could easily be 6-4 (3-3 in the PAC-12 South) nine days from now. Could we be seeing an ASU/UofA PAC-12 South title game? Edit: I agree.
  17. Thanks I imagine that bar was no place for Astros to be Wednesday night after the game, the way the Dogs lost that one thanks to the previously inpenetrable pen.
  18. The goaltending has been rock solid. Even if playing a lot of home games early, no expansion team is supposed to have this kind of record out of the gate. Big Props to the team, and no doubt helping Vegas to cope as well as can be expected with the tragedy this whole month
  19. Yep, it’s weird that ever since the Subban/Weber trade, they aren't the same. Both great blue liners They did pepper Quickie but good though. Might have been one of his better shutout performances.
  20. That is one impressive separation between first WS game attended and most recent one.
