53 pitches through 2 innings. The bullpen is getting loose. The pen will get taxed today for sure

How long before the Harvey experiment is over?
Today? Probably about another inning or so with the way he is unable to finish hitters off.

I'm dying to find out what Gubie's "Go To" is for today.

Matt Harvey has Trevor Cahill syndrome. He hates to have a lead

That's odd. The runner should get an extra base,
Expanded netting is ruining the sport.
I thought that was odd also. Wondering why he didn't get awarded third on that

I believe the overwhelming majority of players are "giving it their all" - but I do not believe that is the case with every single player. I don't think that's realistic.
I get frustrated with some players - but there are only a handful of guys I can honestly say that I "hated." AJ Pierzynski is one. In fact, I have always said that if he ever has a kid who makes it to the major leagues, I'll boo him too. Jose Guillen is another.
I don't boo anyone who plays for the Angels. I don't hate any of the players. I will question their effort in certain situations, but recognize they're all basically trying to compete and win. Bour just ticks me off. He may be a nice guy - but I don't get to see that as a fan. What I see is a guy who continually makes mistakes in various aspects of the game. They're basically "stupid" mistakes for lack of a better word. Those kinds of mistakes when they happen as often as they do with one player - makes me question where their head is at. That's what fans do... That doesn't make him a terrible guy - it just makes him a lousy baseball player or at least one that I find hard to cheer for. Some guys give you the impression that they would do anything to stay in the big leagues. They compete on every single play. They don't give in and they don't give up. When Bour does things like slide into second base - get called safe by the umpire and then walk off the bag and get tagged out - it ticks me off. It's a perfectly legitimate reaction for a fan.
Erick Aybar used to make me crazy sometimes. He'd do things that made me question his baseball IQ - but I always thought he was a great competitor. He was kind of goofy and intense at the same time. I don't get that from Bour.
I'm still getting to know some of these guys... La Stella, Bour, Goodwin. I'm going to form opinions about all of them based on what I see them do on the field. So far, Bour isn't much fun to watch. I don't hate the guy - but I'm just not a fan just yet either.
True Grich--I don't want this post to get buried because this is a really good post. It sums up my feelings pretty well (especially the opinions of Pierzynski, Guillen and Aybar). A fan can be critical of a player who is "scuffling" as Scioscia used to say, but it's another thing to say someone "hates" a player like we used to with Pierzynski.
Baseball is a game that we get to see a players sample size for roughly 162 games, which is about 6 days a week. Unlike football, by the next Sunday the RB who fumbled may have already left your memory bank, where a baseball player is put on the stage almost every night and it's a little harder to forget. A guy like Bour, who I'm pretty critical of also, needs to show me a little more. More offense and less mental gaffes. When he starts correcting these, maybe we won't be so critical of the guy.....nice guy or not.

After the goal was accomplished, I thought it was pretty cool to see all 387 people in attendance give Albert a standing ovation.

Nice to see local product Rio Ruiz batting clean up for the Orioles. I watched him play many times at Bishop Amat and the kid was a great player.

Even with the story of Chris Davis going 0-forever to start the season, he is now hitting .002 lower than Bour. Tell's me about all I need to know about Bour's offensive performance so far.

La Stella seems to be a true hitter. Guy can rake. Even Joe maddon said La Stella could hit falling out of bed. Growing up with that batting machine in his basement has paid off
Now his glove work is comical. he is terrible and that throw from Simmons to him to tag out that guy at second, he looked like a female softball player on a sunday night beer league game catching that ball
I agree with you that his defense isn't great, but on the play you mentioned I think LaStella was caught off guard a little on the play by Simmons. With a 12 run lead at the time, I think LaStella thought Simmons was just going to make the play at first, even though it would have been a close play. When Simmons actually threw the ball to Tommy, he wasn't exactly ready and made a pretty crappy tag. If the game was close, that play would have probably been reviewed.
What Griener was doing wandering that far off the bag chasing 12 runs is a bigger mystery.

Now we know how Bartolo was successful for so long...
Wasn't Bartolo always known as an "inning eater" as a Pitcher?

I was wondering if this lead is big enough to put Cody Allen in the game to try and get 3 outs in the 9th, but my buddy said no way.
So Cam will work the 9th instead it appears

The in game Fix Auto commercials are about as cool as Gubie's "Go-To's" and Gubie's "Keys to the Game".
Can't get enough of them
-
And just like that, Cozart gets off the hitless list and bumps his average up to .125
-
Well Simmons got a hit, so that leaves only one Angel starter hitless in this game.....
-
So the only Angel players not to have at least one hit in this game is Andrelton Simmons and wait for it.................Zack Cozart. Now that's odd
-
Good lord. Tommy LaStella has suddenly become Babe Rtuh at the plate

Copy that. I'm watching the game from the Yard House on closed caption and the caption had it wrong.

He said he was originally from Van Nuys so that might explain a little of his douchy attitude

Dang do the Tigers only have left-handed pitchers? This team still can't hit lefties so enough of this.
I just cannot understand this either. I've never seen a team that has more problems against left handed pitching than the Angels, and it seems like it's been more than a few seasons. Sometimes it appears like Kole Calhoun just realized that the big leagues have left handed pitching. It can be very frustrating watching Angel hitters flail against lefties.

Matt Harvey's pitch count is very CJ Wilson-esque. I can't remember a time when CJ Wilson threw less than 80 pitches through 4 innings. I'm sure it happened once or twice in his Angel Career, but I just can't seem to remember a time when it did.
