Until this team is positive that Luis Rengifo is ready, I'd hold onto Cozart.  He's still a really good defender at multiple positions.  My problem really isn't in having Cozart on the roster, as much as it's the fact that he's receiving consistent playing time.  He should be a late inning defensive replacement, and backup.  That's it.

I don't think that Cozart is that great of a defender, especially at third base.  I understand he's normally a SS, but his throws across the diamond leave me chewing my nails.

I do understand the thought of keeping him as a potential pinch runner, but he's certainly not a viable candidate for pinch hitting duties.  Hell, I was nervous when he came in last night as a late inning defensive replacement.

He's basically a dead man walking and it's just a matter of time before he's DFA'd.  Cut bait and move on, like you said

Great bullpen work and some nice hitting

What is going on with Skabbs?  Can’t even get into the 6th?

Why is Simba hitting into a ton of DPs?   Just a fluke?   Hitting the ball hard at people?

This just in, I hate Marwin Gonzalez!!!!

I think that's what Ausmus was saying in regards to Simmons and his hitting into so many DP's.  As mentioned by another poster, he hits a lot of ground balls and most of them are hit hard, making it easy to turn double plays.

As for Skaggs, who knows?  His pitch count was high again in the early innings, which has been normal for him the last few years.

And by the way, I don't like Marwin Gonzalez either.  I won't say I hate him though, but it's close

@True Grich I don’t think anyone here is jumping for joy about this team or anointing then - they’ve been a mixed bag, they’ve played like a mixed bag, their record reflects it, their run differential reflects it. The pitching has been awful, and the offense been strong enough to overcome a lot of that weakness, as evident in the data above and the fact we’ve managed to eek out a near .500 record to date.

Since that awful first week, we’ve had an above-average offense and that’s been the biggest reason we’ve managed to have a winning record since that time. This data has also been consistent since the season opened and as data was recorded, suggesting this isn’t really fluky.

But as also mentioned, data doesn’t always mean wins. Luck is still a factor.

The thing about data is it can always be skewed to bolster one side of a debate.  I'm not saying that's the case here, but it's true.  As has been mentioned in several posts on this thread, pitching is the issue.  Plain and simple.

But another point that is a major issue is the Angels are 4-11 against left handed starters.  That's pretty bad, and yet this seems like it's been an issue for the last several seasons.  I can't figure out why it is, but boy oh boy do the Angels struggle against lefties.

I'd rather have all 25 Royals, and Ned Yost, doing color for the Angels than Gubicza.

Hold on yk.  You mean to tell me that you don't like Gubie's "Key's to the Game" where he input's a song title into it that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever?

Like this little gem....."Tonight's Hyundai Key to the Game...a little "Cat Scratch Fever," baby because the Angels are gonna have to find a way to scratch out a couple runs against this lefty pitcher, ya know?

    good Lord, ridiculous.
