This is my first post (Hi guys, loooooong time lurker), but I just had to say that as an Angel fan for 41 years this has got to be in the top three greatest Angel moments of all time. If not number one!

Yeah, I just rebooted the server. 
We're all good now. Too many pages got cached from today and it has been about 8 weeks since my last server reboot, so it was due.

This is incredible.  It is tough to look at a $430 million contract and call it a bargain, but man, this is a really good deal for both the player and the team.  Trout could have gone in to the free agent market and gotten more, but why?  He got the biggest deal ever and it increases the Angels budget by $2 million annually, a-fucking-mazing.  

Can we get in n out and see captain Marvel first?
Not the fries though, those things are gross.

This insures that the Angels will almost certainly never have to do an intensive rebuild the next decade. All things being equal, they will  have the stable foundation (Trout, Ohtani, Addell, possibly Simmons) to contend long term. Assuming that a solid pitching staff evolves/progresses in the next few years.
Trout could remain the foundation of two or even three re-tooling cycles as well. The stability of his presence long term now means that the Angels become one of the most attractive markets for free agents. Hopefully Eppler continues to prioritize the farm system, but has enough flexibility to make necessary trades/signings.
Pitching really is critical to get to championship level, but keeping Trout is going to have an amazing number of positive effects on and off the field.

It’s like a bomb hit SoCal, but instead of fiery death it exploded flowers and bunnies and good beer and aphrodisiac outward from its impact—everything just feels great in this moment.

We have signed the best player in all of our lifetime's to contract in which he'll finish out his career with the Angels. 
It doesn't get better than this. 
A future that will consist of Trout, Ohtani and Adell is pretty damn exciting. 

My default is optimistic until proven otherwise. Sure, I likely will be. As you rightly point out we have a ton of developing talent in the incubator. But I like a lot of what I’m seeing. I think Fletcher is turning on, and it’s a different conversation once Ohtani starts as DH. Championship season? I wouldn’t go that far, but I can optimistically conceive a playoff berth. 
I conceive this principally while brushing my unicorn.
