I've always really liked Rojas and would love to see him get a chance.  I think the guy would hit and hit well at the major league level.  I also watched him play d and he doesn't really look comfortable anywhere.  

The thing with the narrative that “Eppler was bad at signing pitchers on one year deals” is that it is a very small sample. 
 
You’re talking about 0 for 3. (And a case can be made that Teheran wasn’t so much a “miss” as an “incomplete.” The guy got covid, so he pitched with basically no spring training and then he got about 3 games to prove himself before he was chucked in the trash can.)
Also, the evaluation methods they used to pick Cahill and Harvey were the same ones they used to pick Bundy. 
 
Anyway, the overall “hit rate” on that level of pitcher is probably 25-40 percent, so Eppler was really right in there at 1 for 3 (or 1 for 4 if you count Teheran.)
Without looking it up, I bet the “hit rate” on the higher caliber pitchers, who sign 3-plus-year deals, is probably 60 percent or so (but the misses are much more costly.) Remember that almost all free agents are at an age when they are more likely to get worse than better.
 

4th OF needs to be able to play CF if the CF gets hurt. If they have a legit CF backup playing everyday on the corners, the 4OF can be picked for other reasons. Upton and Fowler are not CF at this point. That's why Lagares will be on the roster.

It would take a miracle for Ward to make the team over Lagares if both are healthy.
Ward has options, Lagares does not. Lagares plays elite outfield defense - that's what they need, not a guy who can play everywhere. They have backups for the infield in Barreto. They have two catchers.
If you think this is about one game or even their overall batting average in Spring, you're delusional. Unless Lagares gets injured or if he had totally bombed at the plate all Spring (which, obviously, he didn't), he was the likely option due to his defensive ability which was always the prime consideration. Honestly, Jay might've had a better shot than Ward simply because they can stash Ward.

Seeing Heaney striking guys out and the breaking ball looking like that at this point of the spring is a real positive 

This is crap, that you guys are picking on Adell. Judgment of plays is all relative. For a regular outfielder, yeah it was a "misplay", but for Jo Adell, that's just a "play."

Yeah, I’m not really sure what the angst is about.  Bundy was easily our most consistent and reliable starter last year (not saying much but still) and he’s had a pretty good Spring Training so far.
Personally, I’m more than OK with this.
