  1. Even tho, the number didn't looks that good last year, I believe that this kid is going the right direction in his development. Hopefully that final product is a top of the rotation pitcher.
  2. Trout- 34 Upton- 30 Pujols- 25 Kinsler- 18 Calhoun 18 Cron 16 Simmons- 14 Cozart 16 Valbuena 15 Ohtani 13
  3. Looks like there really high on C rod's stuff. It's interesting that they are giving Adell, Jones and marsh that low of a hit tool.
  4. Looking at the past few trades and I'm going to set this similar to the Simmons trade. i'd offer them- The main piece has be Jones with his upside. after that i'd offer Trop; a major league pitcher at the league minor. When healthy he has the upside of an 3 and has shown it. 3rd piece would be Castillo, similar to Barria and Trop in upside wise ( May have more). So, Marlins get Jones, Trop, Castillo and another prospect around the 25- 30 range. Angels get - Yellich
  5. I'd bring back K rod on a minor league deal, heard he's consistently hitting 88- 93 and was hurt last year. Either bring back one of Norris or Hernandez Similarly to K Rod. bring in Santiago on a minor league deal and work him as another lefty option in the BP.
  6. He's one of my surprised prospects for next year. As of right now, i'm seeing him as a good 3. If he can add a few more miles to that fastball and have consistent curve i could see that #2/ a really good #3 ceiling. I know you guys don't really like Comp for our guys but i have to do one for Castillo; So i'm think of Doug Fister and Aaron Nola has Comps for Him.
  7. I feel Moving Jewell to the Bullpen right Now would be really solid for him and the team, due to his control and also having a mid 90 fastball paired with two good off speeds. i think he has chance to develop into how Devenski became an multi inning weapon for the Astros.
  8. Relating to the Darvish situation, If we can get him for 4 yr 80 mil and add team opp-out for the 5th year, I wouldn't mind getting him. But, i'm worry about the innings he has pitched and his arm injuries. For this reason, if we can get a guy like Cobb for cheaper i wouldn't mind it. The only problem i see with this is that if it with create a payroll issue for next few seasons and affecting our next off season. Next thing, relates to Richards. I think if he can pitch next year w/o injuries chance of him coming back are good and on a team friendly deal. simply due to his past injury history., I think a 3 yrs 38 mil, plus an oppt 4th year. also include incentives for every time he pitches every 50 innings, becomes an all-star....Etc. So, with the 14 mil oppt we are looking at about 4 yrs 52 mil, and with incentives about 4yr/ 62 mil. Personally, i would just sign a guys like Jaime Garcia and bring his career 56% ground ball rate into our infield, also it only has been 2 yr since he put up an all star like year. I would say that bring him in Angels stadium and with our defense he could be really good. probably 2 yrs 13 mil. with the money saved we could go sign an guy like AL Avila as a back-up catcher and 1st baseman. 2 yrs 12 mil.
  9. Well if the asking price is Whitley or Tucker this trade is not going to happen.
  10. Eh, we have one think that they don't...... that's sweet talking Billy!!!!!! Trust the process................. that is Billy Eppler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I think the power is there, but it's has yet to be shown and this is mostly do the way his approach is. Scotty put it perfectly, Thasis's swing is geared for line drives, it's didn't have the lift on it to constantly hit homerun yet. Personally i think it coming down to his swing and I think if he changes the angle a bit there will be power.
  12. I think the FB grade may be downgrade a bit, I've read reports that has Soriano hitting up to 98 a few times last year. Even BA has a 60 grade fastball rating. I would also give guve him a future grade of 70 on his fasstball. Other than its was a good report!!
  13. I think by the end of the 2018 draft, we could be in the top 15 or have a chance at the top 10.
  14. I think if the power shows up next season again and valubena struggles, wouldn't be surprised that Fernandez replace Valbuena
  15. It's Bs to consider that Lewis and moniak are in the trier 1 rating, while guys like Jones and marsh; who have had more success and have the same potential are listen at trier 2 and have already shown the ability of a trier 1.
  16. It feels to me that Billy and Co are also building an strong foundation with the ham fighters, could work wonderfully for future players that posted
  17. Ifit's nothing big or related to Peds!!! I doubt we sign him. Since we did, wouldn't mind having him as an depth piece at AAA and he's a lefty.
  18. So we have trout for the next 3 years, 2018- 2021. I would treat this next year as a buffer year: just to see where our talent is by 2019 and than start the talk with trout. The key pt for next year is to find where we are in the future as well right know. 2 points that will affect trout decision. 1. The roster right now- key points to make would be Skaggs and Heaney breakout or pitch well, we will have these guys for the next 3-4 yr, ohtani pitches well, and everyone is playing good baseball. 2. The roster in the future- key point is, hey Mike we'll have Jones and Barria in the Majors by 19 and than we'll have more the next year set f9r the future.
  19. So I have an rough estimate for the payroll for next year. As of right now we have about 25 mil left to spend. We are at about 122 mil with guranteeted contracts next year, including valubena 8 mil next year. Taking the estimates for the Arb the payroll would come out to about 165-170 mil, just an estimate. We would have about 40- 50 mil to spend next year. Kinsler, Johnson, Richards and MALDO are free agents next year. If Richards has a good healthy year, we probably resign him and due to the fact of his injury history it would be a team friendly contract. Ex. 3 yrs 3-38 mil. With ward in the system we don't really need to over pay for MALDO. So with that u assume we should have 30-40 mil to add a sp and a 3rd baseman. Than consider valubena opt-out and if we trade Kole that's another 8- 20 mil we save.
  20. These would be my 4 goals. 1. Sign Reed or Watson 2. Trade or sign a left handed backup catcher that can play first. Grendal/ Avila/ Montero 3. Get a inning eater, Garcia or Vargas. 4. This one is during the season. So, let say both Kole and Shoemaker rebound, we are looking at atleast 5-6 Or more war combined. We also have either Lund or Hermosillo ready to take over for Kole. We package them together for young mlb ready talent. Ex. Brewers get Kole, shoe and Johnson Angels- Hiura, Burnes/ Woodruff, and Perelta.
  21. 1. Really like Cobb but he's going to be overpriced. Darvish is going to be disastrous. He'll be 32 next years, way past his prime eve. If he has 2 good years, for the next 3 years your looking at a ov3r priced pitcher, that just taking a spot. 2.Reed or Watson would work. 3. Nope, rather go with what we have. In stead would rather go after Grendal or Alvila as backups for C and 1st. 4. Why trade Kole and Shoe when there coming of down season?. And grich is a downgrade. Rather just wait and see if they can rebound, Kole alone if he rebounds should be able to get us a 100 prospects plus few Bp piece or a few guys with upside that are a few years back. Same could be said about shoemaker. Plus I think we are also trying save as much money this offseason for the next one.
  22. I'm really high on Him, could see him being an above-average Lead-off hitter for us in the near further. Again this all depends on whether if he can make the adjustments in AA next year. Parra/ Revere would be a good ceiling comp for him and Fuld being the Floor if he reaches the Major.
  23. He can't even hit righties that well..... And a merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all!!!!!
  24. Personally i would like us to go get Reed as the Final Bp piece. than try to Avila, pair him at C and 1st, while also brings in balance to the line-up. over the past few years he's had an really good OBP. If the price for W. Davis give it a look, but i'm still a wry of loosing a draft pitch and 500K Bonus ( Wait!! does Davis have an QA?) .
  25. I would say Heaney's and Skagg's have a similar ceiling of a 2/3, But i think there is a safe bet that Heaney is going to reach his ceiling, while Skaggs is a question mark. Personally i Think Shoe lives and dies of that Spit, if its own he a top of the rotation guy, if its off your looking at at back end guy. Heaney- came back to early form TJ, Personally watching him it felt as if he rushed back and also was still trying to find his release point with the new delivery. Remember he has a 3- pitch comb that had a grade of 60+ and i think they still are. Command was but derailed him last year, and expect it to back and with a good release point. Skaggs- The guy just can't stay healthy, 1st half of the season he really wasn't pitching that bad until he got hurt. Personally after watching him pitch these past few years, i've come down to 4 things that could be benefit to him. 1. Hold the running game, add a slide step and hold the ball 2. overcome the mental collapse, he'll give up a few Stolen bases or makes a bad pitch and you see this, just the way he acts and the next pitch he throws is out of the park. 3. Consistency, the stuff is there, i've seen him dominate line ups and than randomly he hits inning where he has ZERO feel for his pitches. 4. this just my view, i think he should mix in a few change-up to go along with fastball. they is a really good speed difference between the two pitches and should help alot. also having an improved offensive and and defense should help our pitchers.
