  1. Upton was going to find his form eventually. He's never been a guy who would put up an OPS under .700. But yes, he was hitting really well at the leadoff spot before landing on the IL. Maddon's decision to put Upton in the leadoff spot was a great move. I don't think Upton would have an OPS over .800 right now if he wasn't hitting at the leadoff spot. Hitting in front of someone like Ohtani has benefited him. More good pitches to hit. I think Upton will still be leading off games once he comes back.

I'll add in little to no testing for steroids (I guess that was up and running by like 05-06, but definitely not for these seasons JATF is mentioning), and average fastball velocity being like 4-5mph lower than now.

MLB banned steroids in 1991. There's no point in enforcing the rule if they don't do anything or little about it. It's funny that people have turned their backs on guys like McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds for steroids even though they knew that they were using it at the time to put fans in the seats( like the Sosa-McGwire home run chase in '98) and still didn't complain about it. Sosa, McGwire, and Bonds were never suspended for steroids but the evidence have been there for a long time just like the situation with Bauer and his cheating stuff,

  3. That was still in a time where the league was juicing the baseballs to benefit offenses around the league and to keep fans in the seats. Juiced baseballs made guys like Hidalgo and Tim Salmon in 2000 look like Trout at the plate. If you look at their slash lines in 2000, i looks better than Trout's in some particular years. And yet, their OPS+ were both under 145 that season. Trout's worst OPS+ since 2012 is 168. Big gap. It's harder to hit in Trout's era than it was from 1993-2009 (hitters inflated offensive period, the juiced baseball period), especially when you have hot and cold zones that wasn't around then and tells pitchers what type of pitches a hitter has trouble with (ex: Trout with the high fastball).

People who don't understand the "nature of science" or willingly ignore it, shouldn't speak about matters above their mental capacities.

Are those Bundy's numbers this season? If so, he's still been terrible on the road. But hey, lets blame the so-called hitters ballpark that is Angels Stadium even though it has always been a pitchers ballpark. Marine layer makes Angel Stadium a tough place to hit at night. So now the marine layer is gone and Bundy is struggling? You don't know science well. What's next? It's the Zodiac Killer's fault that Bundy is terrible at home?

    This is interesting.

That Bauer video i posted a few months back. He almost made it seem like he was doing it to make Cole look bad. Like... basically confessed to this.

Will be interesting to see if it truly is enforced, and how much some (if not most) guys regress

Bauer showing that he is cheating is like me proving that I cheated when I took a test for another person in school and handed him that test in front of like a dozen of other people. I'm glad that the Angels gave the cheater the L earlier this season at Angel Stadium. The guy does nothing but beg for attention. I guess when you're a mediocre pitcher without cheating, you're going to do whatever it takes to get attention out of desperation.

I just hope it doesn't turn into another Heaney situation where we all keep waiting for him to live up to his "potential"--and then all of the sudden he's 30 and is just kinda the guy he's been since he debuted.

Heaney was actually good with the Angels early on. Had a good season in 2015 with an ERA under 3.50. But he just hasn't shown the ability to take that next step since that year.
