Maybe this is Washington's way of saying "Hey dumbshits, we need pitching". Funny that the guy's name is "Wantz".

Wow, that's pretty damning as to the state of the SP depth and the willingness (or lack thereof) to address it in a meaningful way.

There are literally no other options.  None.  Zero.  Thus, Wantz must start!  I don't know why you can't see this, man!

I believe the moves they have made support the theory that they either did, or still do, want to add a quality starter.  If they don’t sign one, it will be because the price was way outside what they think the price should be.
And given that nobody has signed Snell or Montgomery, it makes sense that maybe it’s because the asking price is outside of what everybody believes it should be.
If the price doesn’t change, it seems like Angels won’t be the team that signs one of them.  If it does soften, I believe the Angel might be the team that acts.

Personally I'm over the rebuild. They had so many chances to rebuild or "soft rebuild" the last few years, but didn't take them.
Last season was the worst. They had a chance to significantly change the future and once again went for it when the writing was on the wall. 
At this point, just spend the money or the sell the team. If they sign Snell or Montgomery I may come to a few games this year to watch them pitch. Otherwise, it will be the first season since I was born that I didn't attend an Angels game.
If Arte wants to always commit to competing then he needs to put his money where his mouth is.

I mean it's fine, but I am truly baffled by this offseason. Spent $30 million on the bullpen but fuck all on the rotation? Also no infield depth?

Beginning to think that Heyman sucking up to Boras is akin to Roger Lodge and Moreno.

My overall take is the post-Ohtani plan is to attempt to be competitive by having a good rotation, a good bullpen, an adequate offense and play good defense.  That profile of a team can be a playoff team.
Adding a good starter fits that plan.  Of course you don’t just throw an insane contract at Snell or Montgomery.  But you absolutely stay close to the market them and be prepared to make a move if the numbers fit the plan.
Until Snell and Montgomery sign somewhere, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to consider the Angels as a possible landing spot.
And repeating, signing a Snell or Montgomery would not prevent the Angels from pursuing somebody like Burnes next year unless they way overpaid for one of them, which they obviously are not doing. . .if they were going to be reckless and overpay, it would have happened already.

I see it as the exact opposite. When you consider the s ops of what Minasian has done this off season the only logical conclusion is they’ll add starting pitching. 

I like what someone said previously, that while not being a total difference maker, signing either Snell or Montgomery to an overpay 3 year deal shows someone like Burnes a year from now that they want to contend by the time he is a FA, while at the same time not committing too many years to Snell or Montgomery.   Save that for more of a sure thing, like Burnes.

Something is coming that will improve the team. I honestly think prices have dropped to the point where they can snag 2 instead of 1. I can also see Snell waiting it out till the compensation drops.

It’s painful to listen to him.  He’s perfect for a 9 year old passionate fan that innocently loves the team, and that’s kind of it.
I would compare his purpose and role to like a Mall Santa Claus.
