  1. How can we enjoy this knowing Vernon Wells is still being paid
  2. not nearly as annoying as all the ads on the outfield wall.... Anyway.... what song would you pick for each player? Mike Trout: Aloe Blacc - "The man."
  3. I love it when the Angels win... I love it a little more when Jered Weaver leads them there.
  4. Isn't Mike Scioscia the GM anyway? Sarcasm button on.
  5. I was in my car when Swisher hit the grand slam and I couldn't hit the off button on my radio fast enough. I felt a bolt of rage run through my body and I was instantly in a bad mood. It was so predictable... seems like whenever something can go wrong, it does. Big series in Oakland... A's sweep. Big inning with lots of runners in scoring position... pffffft. It's hard to watch, listen to or read about. Losing sucks. Losing like the way the Angels did today really sucks. It feels like getting punched in the stomach. And yet... I'll be at the game tomorrow night.... waiting for Mike Trout to do something great, giving polite applause to Joe Saunders and hoping the Angels kick the snot out of Texas. As bad as today was; at least I get to look forward to tomorrow. Beats the heck out of winter when there is no baseball.

  7. Pomeranz broke his hand after punching a chair in frustration... that's just rich.
  8. I have a love/hate relationship with Aybar... sometimes he makes me want to pull my hair out and other times, he makes my jaw drop in amazement. I hope he gets an all-star nod this year.
  9. This is heart breaking. I have two Tony Gwynn stories. I had the pleasure of meeting him at an autograph signing at El Cajon Ford - who he represented for many years. He and my wife struck up a conversation because they had gone to rival high schools. He joked with her about her high school always beat his and they shared names and joked a bit. It was a nice moment and one my wife will never forget (not I). We also ran into him at the all-star game that was played at Yankee Stadium. He was in the parade riding in the back of a Chevy truck. I joked with him about being a Ford man and how he was going to get in trouble for riding in a Chevy. He laughed and acknowledged the situation. It was a nice little interaction with him and a cool memory. He's the kind of ball player you can't help but love. He regularly engaged with fans. He smiled a lot. He played the game the right way and was just classy in everything he did.
  10. This saddens me as well... he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met at spring training.
  11. Look... how else is Albert going to make the highlight reels?
  12. I hate the A's... always have, always will. Let's do this.
  13. I can't believe Trout isn't leading off and batting third at the same time.
  14. I've been wondering about this too... I guess we'll never know. I just hope they get to do it early and often.
  15. the funny thing about this thread is that the Angels have won five in a row... they had a dramatic come from behind victory Saturday and walk-off win last night and it's like some people can't enjoy any of it.
  16. I like the fact that Jepsen is pitching better... but I refuse to relax when he comes in... the dude has priors. I hope he keeps it up because that makes the bullpen all the better - but I can't help but cringe every time he comes into a game. Last night the whole pen was simply awesome.
  17. Homebrewer - Pujols finished off his first year as an Angel pretty well.... Last year can be chalked up to injuries... I can see him justifying his first two seasons and now being a little stunned. Like I said, I think he's in a bit of denial.
  18. Lost in all this is why doesn't Trout run more... His lack of steals is puzzling to me.
  19. I saw a couple of amazing things over the past few days... the Angels come from behind 6-5 win with Trout's grand slam and "the throw" by Cespedes. Nothing like being at the ball park for stuff like this. I wish more fans would show up and fill the stands.
  20. Calhoun is hitting .239 with a .301 OBP and some people act like he's freakin' George Brett. I like Calhoun, but I don't know why he gets so much love on this forum and people turn a blind eye to his stats.
  21. I think Pujols is extremely prideful and that he's probably (thought I have no idea of knowing for sure) reluctant to ask or take help. I think (again, just my opinion) he is probably a little stunned at his own lack of production and is searching for answers himself. I also honestly believe that if he continues to be just mediocre, he will retire before the end of his contract. I think he feels the pressure and is in denial about his declining skills. He has shown signs of his former self and that's probably puzzling to him - and to the rest of us who want to see him succeed. I take issue with his batting third in the lineup. I'd much rather see Trout or Hamilton in that slot right now. The amazing thing is the team is doing relatively well despite Pujols' struggles... I can only imagine how well they'd be doing if he upped his game a couple ticks.
