  1. I saw an article today about how the Rockies are going to retire Todd Helton's number. Helton just retired. Salmon retired in 2006 and the Angels have yet to give him that honor. Isn't it time? No one else has worn the number since and I would hate to see anyone else wear it in the future. I think a case could be made for Garret Anderson as well. These two own just about every significant offensive record for the Halos and these two players have had a bigger impact on the franchise than some of the numbers up on the wall in right field...
  2. Chuck, I always appreciate the support you and this site provides True Grich. I haven't been as active lately, but I did post something recently that shows a different twist on the off season trades the team made... Again, thanks for all your support.
  3. Just what we need... a Ranger fan telling Angels fans when they're being hypocrites. Yeah, every board needs one of those. Now, if we can just get an ARod apologist and a few more "super fan" police we'll be set. Oh and if we could get an A's fan to constantly comment about Angel fan attendance, that would be nice too.
  4. Garza makes me nervous. I'm find with Capuano for depth.
  5. I really dig this story and I hoping his story is the best individual story of the year.
  6. Jeff Bagwell Craig Biggio Tom Glavine Greg Maddux Mike Mussina Mike Piazza Tim Raines Curt Schilling Frank Thomas Alan Trammell
  7. Here's to the next ten years... and BEYOND. Keep up the great work.
  8. By virtue of this thread, this board is now being investigated for tampering... Oh and I'll follow Agalloch and Deek and take Evan Longoria. My second choice would be Yadier Molina for positions players. Pithcing: I'll take Kershaw and then Jose Fernandez
  9. Nice find... I love that any news about the Angels usually finds its way to this message board.
  10. He's going to break all the arbitration records anyway....
  11. I am one of those fans who is probably harder on Howie than he deserves... it's just that I often feel like he has that "deer in headlights" look in the post season.. or in clutch situations. I must think that way for a reason.
  12. Price Weaver Tanaka Wilson Skaggs/Richards... And then my alarm goes off and it's time to get up and go to work.
  13. Who else thought about the Ersatd take out of Estrada in Atlanta when this rule change was announced?
  14. From that article... Only four players -- pitchers Jered Weaver and Kevin Jepsen, shortstop Erick Aybar and second baseman Howie Kendrick -- remain from the super 2009 outfit that claimed a third consecutive American League West title. Wow.
  15. listening to mlbnetwork radio this morning... a number of GM's have concerns over Garza's medicals. No details, but there are some red flags.
  16. Listening to mlbnetwork radio this morning... they were saying a number of GM's have concerns about Matt Garza's medicals... and that the process for him having a physical, etc. could delay any announcements.
  17. I would like this too... as strictly a DH
  18. I heard Dipoto yesterday on mlbnetworkadio and he also talked about the release point. Dipoto is obviously a big fan - going back to when Skaggs was in HS. He talked about his work ethic and his desire to be "great" and that being average won't do for Skaggs. He talked about his feel for pitching and that he's a good athlete. The change in the release point was to make his change up better, which it did. Doesn't have to throw hard to be effective....
  19. I know his OBP sucked... but I sure loved watching those prodigious bombs. I always appreciated his effort on the field. Seems like a perfect fit for Kirk Gibson's style of basebll. I do like the trade, but I will really miss Trumbo.
  20. Keith Law likes the deal a lot for the Angels... http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/post?id=1695&refresh=true (Insiders only). Explains his loss in velocity this way... Skaggs took a step back in 2013 as the Diamondbacks shortened his stride, resulting in a higher release point that cost him several miles per hour on his fastball and depth on his breaking ball. Lengthen him out so he finishes out over his front side again and he should be back to 90-94 mph again with the hammer he had as recently as 2012, when he projected as a potential No. 2 starter and was the best left-handed starter prospect in the game.
