    Bright sides for me:
    1) huge opportunity for several players to establish their health before '18. Better they do it now than next spring. If everyone miraculously returns, even if only to a varying degree, Eppler has a lot of MLB trade currency this offseason.
    2) plenty of opportunity for Eppler's cheap pick-ups to play their way into becoming long-term assets. Easier to give guys like Cowart, Scribner, Bridwell, etc opportunities when we aren't hellbent on making the playoffs
    3) We still figure to be involved quite a bit in the August trade period; Norris, Petit, Nolasco, Maybin, Escobar, Revere, Chavez, and even Pennington could still draw interest, and with our payroll opening up, the Angels have opportunity to still buy guys like Dee Gordon (or other high dollar vets) for basically nothing
    4) the farm! We didn't give up anything, even though we could have, especially with rentals being so cheap to acquire. Everyone's still here, we may add more before August is through, and Eppler will be watching for anyone DFA'ed post-deadline 
    5) they're still playing competitive baseball. The odds are stacked, but at the end of the day, this is a game and this is entertainment. These guys will still be playing to win and trying their best (even if they aren't) and there will be some good games ahead with the season's hopes on the line.
