  1. All I can say is that Fletcher would had swung at that borderline pitch and probably driven the ball into right center for a double. There is no excuse for that horrible at bat. Just because Mike Trout is great doesn't mean he can't get better. I think he convinced himself that the pitcher was going to try to get him to chase 0-2 and fell asleep at the wheel.
  2. Can't help but notice he has a short pitching stride for someone 6'2". Watch when he walks off the field in between innings. Baby steps. It looks like his hammies and/or hip flexors are tight. So when he gets properly stretched and gain mobility he starts throwing 97-98. See him at ST next year.
  3. It is going to be different and maybe even fun. Maybe shorten season with longer (more teams) playoffs. Maybe it is more like basketball or hockey playoffs. Who knows, might change the way MLB does playoffs forever!
  4. Ohtani reminds me of another Angel. A streaky lefty with a long swing, going to strikeout a lot but slug around .560. He going to hit 38 HRs this year but he is going to look clueless at times. He will not be known for his contact rate!
  5. "preventative UCL reconstruction " If I were a surgeon, I would strongly consider pioneering this. Remember Dr. Frank Jobe was considered a little crazy. And if we can't/won't send are draft picks straight to surgery how about mandatory preventive PRP?
  6. Not sure how dumb it would be. Maybe not a full blown TJ surgery but a strengthening procedure. Maybe Ulnar Collateral Ligament Repair with Internal Brace - it could be called “Tommy John lite.” Time will tell.
  7. So why don't teams draft pitchers and send them straight to the surgeon. Have both the shoulder and the elbow made bionic. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster." I mean it is almost inevitable so get it done early.
  8. Therefore, including data from a list found on Tommy John Surgery List @MLB Player Analysis, 18 MLB players had Tommy John surgery in 2019, making a total of 473 MLB players that have had TJ surgery since 1974. The total for all baseball players who had TJ surgery in 2019 was 80 players, making a grand total of 1,821 players who have had TJ surgery at least once, if not multiple times, in their baseball careers, including high school, college, all levels of minor league baseball and MLB. All the cool kids are doing it!
  9. When will teams/ pitching coaches start evaluating pitching mechanics (slow mo video) and training to try to avoid injuries before they happen. There are guys out there that predict which pitchers are going to get injured based off their mechanics. Chris O'Leary is one but there are others too. He has a position he calls the JT twist and other tell tale signs to predict the the probability for a pitcher's arm and shoulder health. I know its almost like shooting fish in a barrel but his record is pretty amazing. Angels need to do something.
  10. intercostal muscles are several groups of muscles that run between the ribs, and help form and move the chest wall. The intercostal muscles are mainly involved in the mechanical aspect of breathing. These muscles help expand and shrink the size of the chest cavity to facilitate breathing. He was breathing too hard?
  11. Minor league offer? Crafty lefty? Middle relief. $100,000? Lets gamble! Invite him to spring training.
  12. I predicted this was going to be a big win for the pitchers. If the pitch called is a slider low and away and the pitch backs up and its inside and high but hit the zone it is gonna look funny. Catcher has to move his glove 18 inches from the original target. I could image seeing a past ball and a called third strike. If they take the juice out of the ball and they stop teams from stealing signs it could be a heyday for pitchers.
  13. I think it is very possible for Mike Trout to hit .330 .450 .660 and 50 HRS. With Upton and Rendon in the line up, teams are going have to pitch to him. And if Fletcher improves just a little as a lead off hitter Trout might get 120 + RBIs too! I am predicting a monster year for Trout and the whole Angels offense. Angels score 850+ runs!
  14. GMs have a responsibility to a 5 to 10 year plan. I agree. The Angels GMs have failed for 5 to 10 years. Just think Cozart. Not getting the best player in baseball to the postseason is a huge failure. What year of the 5 to 10 year plan are the Angels in? What year does Mike Trout play in the postseason? "I do think by the end of this week, we'll have signed either Ryu or Keuchel. " Should have signed both of them yesterday and be active in the trade market. Championships are won with pitching not SSs or prospects. Rendon deal was great now let's finish it up by signing SPs TODAY! Wouldn't a ALC MVP award THIS YEAR for Mike Trout be nice? is it likely the Angels could be working on a trade package for someone whose name isn't really out there? Hope so.
  15. "Still, this isn't a bad rotation: Cole, Ohtani, Heaney, Bundy, Canning, Sandoval, with depth of Suarez/Barria/Peters/F Pena. I can live with that." You can live with it but you can win a WS with it. Cole is no guarantee. This could get ugly. Bundy may hopefully pitch better with better defence behind him.
  16. I would trade Adell if it was a good trade. I not sure he is as good as the hype. I think people like him because he a good looking, well spoken and hard working athlete. Compare his minor league numbers to Trouts or Woods. He is not going to be a Trout and maybe more likely to be a Woods. If we can get a known talented SP for an unknown talented OF, I say do it.
  17. Donaldson for 3 years would be awesome. I like his bat and his attitude. He is a true pro, works on his craft and take his job seriously. Maybe some of his approach might rub off on Upton. LOL I don't know , maybe Upton is the hardest worker on the team but he comes off a little aloft. Those photos of him riding the couch with a toe injury doesn't help his image. Getting Donaldson would IMO make Simmons available. Simmons is a great SS but Fletcher is a real SS with a good bat and La Stella and Rengifo are serviceable. I am not that high on Thaiss or Ward but they could surprise. Which teams would be interested in Simmons? What could we get in return? SP?
  18. How is MLB going to police this? Take away CF cameras? No electronics allowed in dugouts? Who is going to enforce the changes? Should the catchers have to come up with better signs (encrypted somehow)?
  19. Those are very general predictions. How about some details? LOL
