Doesn't matter, they're talking about future decline. This year's performance has nothing to do with it because the money is already spent on him. They're talking about what his value is after his age 30 opt out date. He's got a solid contract now and would be stupid to opt out of it. He won't get more money. 

There's no quit in the Angels.  They get kicked in the shorts after painful losses and come right back fighting the next day.  This grind has to be grueling to not get rewarded more often in this wild card race.  You wonder if the players that are back in 2018 aren't mentally tougher.

I'd say the Angels have been savvy and resourceful to try and keep this heavily flawed and marginal roster afloat despite a myriad of injuries. Look how many guys have contributed this season who weren't even on the roster last year. The difference is that the Indians have more top-end talent on their roster where they can account for players missing time. The Angels simply aren't there yet.

I wonder when the Angels will decide that you can't bat someone in the middle of your lineup that can't reach base on routine base hits.  That's like having a batter without legs.  

I think Arte might cut the cord if his contract was up for renewal at the end of the season. 
Owners are ultimately loyal to themselves.  I learned that when I lost my 31-year-job.
Having said that, you can't blame Scioscia for this season.  You can blame him and Arte for Dipoto's leaving.  The GM must outrank the manager.   
This business model ultimately has to be corrected. 

Boy what a grueling series, and having to face Houston and Cleveland.  If the Dodgers don't put it all together I think Cleveland will win the World Series.  I thought Francona outmanaged Maddon.  I want the Angels to win anything they can but I really want them to beat the Mariners because the Eppler is better than Dipoto.  What a difficult minefield of a pitching staff to navigate the rest of the way.

After seeing Eppler work you may be right.  With Dipoto I was thinking of chain of command issues and the front office either putting the GM in charge or changing GMs.

I'd like to know why Skaggs and Bedrosian can't pitch better. They have good stuff, than screw up.  Langston in particular thinks Skaggs needs another out pitch and better control.  Bedrock, after two outs,......

I'd be hesitant to make a major trade until we see if Tropeano, Skaggs, Richards, and Heaney can come all the way back from their injuries.  What can you do with Giancarlo Stanton without a good pitching staff?
The Angels play hard and grind out some good wins, then they turn around and lose 2 out of 3.

Boo fucking hoo, give me a frigging break. Hernandez, Joe West, a few others have it in their head that people come ot game to see them.  
The best umps are those you CANT name at all, the fact that we know these men all too well suggests they are either looking for trouble, incompetent, or both.
I'm not condoning verbal abuse but this is ludicrous coming from these men.
