Except we have a corvette without a drive shaft (Upton, Gordon) and the transmission(Pujols) is going bad but the Engine (Trout)is super badass and the overall shape of the car is pretty decent.(Calhoun, Richards, Skaggs, Heaney, Cron, Simmons) But your dad doesn't want to shell out a little more money to make sure the car is capable of driving. Your dad said he already shelled out all the money for the Ferrari so sit in your Corvette in the garage and watch your buddies fly by in their Mustangs.

If Eppler trades two lefties with terrific upside and are club controlled and cheap over trading Shoemaker (inconsistent and older) and Santiago (mediocre and expensive) than he should be fired on the spot. That would make absolutely no sense and I would be pretty pissed

I'm on the Upton train, I'm a firm believer we need a feared bat because we just can't rely on Pujols anymore with all of his injuries and his startling decline. Gordon and Cespedes are complimentary players in my eyes and we need to give Trout help. Gordon would be my second choice due to the OBP, he would be an ideal option to hit 2nd and move Calhoun down to 5th or 6th. If we are trying to stay under the tax I am so down with signing Kim because all of his numbers seem like they will translate well. I also saw an idea about getting a big name outfielder and signing Kim anyways, give Kim can be your 4th outfielder, in that case a trade of Calhoun would make sense although I don't want to see him traded.

Yeah don't get your hopes up guys. We all know how this FO operates, a savvy signing that makes too much sense is not happening. Just like how the Neil Walker trade made too much sense, and the Angels getting Upton, and the Beltre non-signing, and not pulling Weaver out of the rotation, etc, etc...

I think we are just all bored. Seriously nothing baseball related going on other than the D-Backs saying they don't have room for Mike Leake. That's why a thread about acquiring Daniel Nava in 2015 is getting so much talk. That paired with the Angels not having a starting Left Fielder and should add a 2nd baseman, a bullpen arm, and maybe a starter but all the front office is feeding us is 'Daniel Nava' and 'Ramon Ramirez'

Agree 100% we have no impact bats on the way. Ideally Cron will be a MOTO bat but adding Upton into the mix is a must. We need that 4 hitter to supplement the Pujols decline. That's why I don't understand why the deal hasn't gotten done already. This FO obviously does this for a living and knows more than any of us combined but this is a no brainier, quit effing around if you guys are serious about winning.

This is the exact conversation I was trying to start. I wasn't saying the Cubs would have done that just was trying to get some ideas of what a package like that could have brought in. Ozuna or somebody like that would have been great. With the new wild card system I feel like grabbing players from rebuilding teams is harder now that everyone thinks they have a shot at the playoffs.

I don't understand the point of a fan forum if you can't talk about things about the team. There are like board police that let you know what an acceptable topic is and isn't. This is what I fail to understand. The main difference in the price tag between any of the top four outfielders is going to be the length and not in how much it costs the team each year. So why is the price tag an issue?

Yeah i mean Walker would be great for 2nd but if they aren't willing to take CJ while we eat about 10-12 million or give up Walker + than we shouldn't burn our last valuable trade chip on that.

I think signing Leake, a bullpen arm and Upton would be an okay winter. Ideally we would make a trade for a second baseman also but if they are trying to keep payroll down than that would be a competitive lineup.
