In my defense i would say no im not, seeing their comments supports my position but didnt influence or create it.  To me the fact that he hasnt extended, for whatever reason, is proof enough.
His own words have made clear what he wants, and i dont think well get lucky twice a la Trout.
Im not assuming anything, i could be wrong, maybe he stays when all is said and done, and maybe this team does do batter than it looks right now, i certainly cant see the future, but thats a hell of a gamble when you have a chip of that value.
If it all works out, you look like a genius, if it doesnt work out, you look like an absolute imbecile.

I agree though on youre estimate of percentage, 25 maybe 30%... so thats bascially 3 or 4 to one against.. do you go all in on a bad situation with those odds?  Logic would suggest thats a bad play to make.

Logic suggests? We're talking about armaggeddon you green-blooded... (I couldn't resist!)

I don’t usually start threads but I keep seeing this idea and want to ask about it.

I certainly understand the thinking of trading Ohtani if the Angels are out of it, but it seems like there are some fans who want to trade him even if the Angels are in it? (And I don’t mean “fringy in it” like 5 games out, but legit like right now.)

If you’re not going to go for it when you have a chance, then what’s the point?

(I also can’t imagine what it would do to the clubhouse to trade Ohtani when they are in the race. Imagine what happened to the Brewers when they traded Hader and multiply it by 10.)

Yeah, Jeff, trading Ohtani when they aren't in it makes no sense unless they know for a fact he's leaving.

  3. Isn't it too early for this nonsense? I was hoping for a split but everyone knows the Astros are another level. Let's hope they can salvage a game and then play better against lesser teams. Lots of games left and I think this roster is capable of making a run.

Moniak is hot now. Gotta let him play for now. Internal team competition should be a positive. Keeps the intensity up.

So far catching has been adequate with the Thais/Wallach pair. But remember, O'Hoppe was supposed to be the main starter. Too bad he essentially is losing most of a season of experience. Also looks like Wallach is regressing at the plate though with a small sample size. And he's probably better defensively than Thais. Who overall has been decent. Hopefully the combo can be sufficient.

I wonder how many people believe in this... the hot hand. Do you remove a "regular" for a hot hitter?

It appears Mr Ward has hit his way out of the lineup.

They're really going with the hot hand. I wonder if this is Nevin or Perry. I don't necessarily agree with this, but with the Rangers and Astros seemingly winning daily and Ohtani perhaps out the door, there's a lot of pressure for the Angels to win. I think Ward's resurgence is better for the team than Moniak but the choice has been made. Does anyone know what's going on with Ward?

These are the type of series that need to be swept. Hovering around .500 at this point isn't good enough anymore.

To get to the playoffs they will need to win around 90 games minimum the way things are seeming to shape up.

These are the kind of situations where you start building that momentum from.

At the beginning of the homestand, I said they should take at least 5 of 7. I think that's a necessity.

Yeah, I don't know how you can definitively answer "no" at this point.  I totally get the "Not yet" responses, but not a flat-out "no."

I also answered No. He's not 34. He still has time but , as everyone says, he really needs to make a dent this year.
