  1. most of the time you say crazy shit all over the place, but you're dead center on nail with this opinion.
  2. it's 100% because of the WBC and i thought of him when i posed that question. he's certainly the most likely guy, but what about him is new and different that he's going to turn a bad season around. it's just moving the pieces around the board. if nevin and perry "fail" and are fired it won't be because they're failures. it will be because carpino and moreno are failures and never learn. personally, as i've said to start this discussion i think that both perry and nevin are the right guys. i like perry's concepts and tactics and i think nevin is doing a good job in a limited sample so far of both continuing those concepts into the game and keeping the clubhouse old school.
  3. that's been their problem for 10 years or whatever. say they're .500 or worse at some arbitrary point in the season and they fire nevin and maybe perry too? who takes their place and the angels suddenly become a playoff team during the season? there's been a few teams over the years that had a guy waiting for his opportunity, but do the angels even have a guy who remotely fits that bill? they're ride or die this season with nevin and perry. regardless of how we feel about their qualifications.
  4. why? i'd have to disagree again and say arte keeping the team actually makes nevin and perry much safer. a new owner was likely to replace perry and nevin by extension. perry seems pretty safe to me with arte and i think nevin works well with perry. they seem to be cohesive, at least from the outside perspective.
  5. i disagree. i think he's going to show himself quite well. he'll benefit from having a better roster than his predecessors, but he handled the bullpen well in his first opportunity and he seems to have the clubhouse in a tangible way. i think nevin seems to be better than expected.
  6. agreed. definitely wouldn't want the one true thing he's actually elite at to be utilized at all.
  7. crazier things have happened, but you'd think the NL world series incumbent would have a better option internally already. also, thais is a fringe roster cut, so the return would be almost nothing.
  8. i think it's supposed to be a knock off "creepshow" voice, but not close enough to be sued over. very odd usage for this video.
  9. i think the angels have some nice prospects that are on the way. i don't believe when it all comes to pass that the farm system will fall that low, and i'm not one to overvalue angels' players.
  10. want to know who one of the best examples of that is? nevin. makes you think he might have something to offer moniak.
  11. trout is an all time great player. however, in that one at bat, ohtani bent him over and spanked his ass red. that was a Friday the movie "daaaaaaamn" moment.
  12. nobody has said anything about players having vaginas yet? slippin'
  13. i bet teddy was weird as shit to know.
  14. that's funny, i actually edited it from bracho to quijada after the fact because i was misled by one of the updates.
  15. man, that is an awful 0-2 pitch for bracho. that's definitely one of the old school rules that still applies. there's no way any hitter should ever be able to get a hit, much less a homerun on an 0-2 pitch. daddy vladdy and ichiro excused.
  16. yeah, horrible opinion and massively small minded. would he say the same about the world cup? you know professional soccer* is kind of big around the world too, keith?
  17. i haven't read past this post yet. there are only 16 comments at this time, how many until we get the first maddon called it type joke? i'm going to guess 3 posts after the sam blum post. edit: i am so disappointed in all of you who posted in this thread.
  18. he wasn't going to make the HOF anyway, so this has actually worked out pretty well for him in several respects.
  19. that's a very good point. baystars are going to pay him 4 million. i'm assuming the dodgers get 4 million of salary relief even though it's not an mlb or even an u.s. based operation? edit: it was 4 million last night. maybe that's inaccurate and it's 3 million.
  20. i was one that thought some team would be willing to pay him the minimum. i was wrong about that. this is such a strange story.
  21. i agree completely. i think he starts with the team and i even said that with trendon. trendon was making two points. one, that it would be a black eye against the angels and two, that there's no way they could go another way. neither are true.
  22. man, you are really entrenched on this concept. ok. i know few things for certain in baseball, but i feel very confident in saying, fringe major leaguers that received only one mlb offer are not going to be having any influence whatsoever on where other FA's sign.
