  1. my answer is what i heard a st. louis cardinal say one time years ago. the goal is to play .500 on the road and significantly above at home. you do that and you're going to be a great team by default.
  2. you're talking like you know how any of the teams value and evaluate adell. you don't. neither do i. the difference is i'm not misrepresenting my opinion. is it possible he turns into a decent major leaguer? uh, yeah. it's also possible he turns into an all star because he has the speed/power combo to do that and he's 24 years old, just now entering his prime. or he could bust. my opinion is that other teams know he was rushed to the big leagues and he suffered for it. the angels are finally letting him get his proper development in and he's showing tremendous power and speed. he's putting up big numbers down there. https://www.milb.com/player/jo-adell-666176 i find it very difficult to believe he's a throw in buy low guy. he's a legit prospect and i think he's likely to be traded at the deadline. i imagine, if so, the headlines wherever he goes will read something about his below avg mlb numbers and that he had very little minor league experience beforehand and since then has been putting up huge numbers in AAA. that's how an acquiring team is likely to frame that trade.
  3. i still disagree. i don't think he's even remotely at the AAAA label yet. the angels have benefited from most of his AAA performance and his brief call ups to the majors this year have been effective. btw, i'm not hyping for him. i'm giving my perspective on what i think his trade value may be.
  4. i don't agree with this. i think adell is going to have more trade value than people think. he's an enticing prospect that the angels clearly rushed. what's really helping his value is that they've finally let him get his polishing time in the minors and he's killing it. the k/bb % might undo some of that positivity for some clubs though.
  5. eppler's not doing as well in nym as we thought. 8 games under 500 with a 364 million dollar payroll.
  6. i'll admit david i didn't read your whole post, but i'd like to point out that none of those teams got rid of their scouting departments. they still have scouts, they just don't have those guys. i don't think any of the front offices look at it as scouting vs. analytics. i think they incorporate both differently than those guys can understand. i'm sorry they lost their jobs, but it's not a birthright. this seems like a very hard case for them to litigate.
  7. i wonder what rengifo could fetch on the pitching market. i expect him to be traded now, and i'm sure it will be as part of a larger package, but i'm curious what his value is? i think it's higher than his actual performance. gm's see all that potential.
  8. the three players that everybody was glad were out of the lineup, got into the lineup and went a combined 0-5 with a walk. good job, guys!
  9. i look forward to watching ohtani play somewhere else. i'm tired of the angels.
  10. i don't think you understand how that joke/meme works.
  11. i don't ever chime in on the gameday threads, but i wanted to stop in just for fun and troll ourselves. nice bullpen you got there angels, be a shame if something happened to it.
  12. you can't say there's no chance he would sign with the angels. they've treated him very well and he seems to like it here. it's really about will they pay the money and does he believe he has a winning future here. the angels have a better shot than probably more than half the rest of the league, but there's a few other teams that can offer those two things almost with certainty, and that's where you'll lose him.
  13. i'm not making fun of syndergaard, but he's about to get the alex manoah treatment.
  14. so, probabilities aren't really your thing, eh?
  15. the angels going on another 17 game losing streak would be the most interesting thing to happen to the angels in a long time, even more so than last year because the stories would be better. i say if you're not going to win, then do that. at least i'll get some twisted entertainment out of it.
  16. it took tom brady to change the loser dna of the patriots. the angels have two tom bradys and they still can't put together a winning team.
  17. the way he says it makes it seem like he brain farted in the worst possible way trying to speak. god damn, if he's not an ignorant monster, i feel for the fucking guy. that's horrific. the negro leagues museum manager stuck up for him too, so i think this is just awful for the guy and it's going to cost him his job and his career.
  18. you motherfuckers never learn. you just can't help yourself. jinxers gonna jinx.
  19. he's not been terrible this year. but he's either a little off or having some bad luck. his obp is 324 i think, his counting stats haven't fallen off a cliff, which means he's keeping it together overall. i think he's a very good hitter now and he'll figure out either what he's doing wrong or how to adjust to what they're doing to him.
  20. i saw that play live. it was stupid from every vantage point.
  21. there's no doubt he wanted to return to the angels and win a world championship, but he just wanted to do it his way with his guys and he wanted to be the reason why they won. there is no doubt about that, it comes across in almost everything he does and says. he's making sure he's getting credit for ohtani too. the dude is lame and stale as fuck.
  22. cals is clearly joking and somehow nobody gets it.
