The problem with politicians in general is that none of them act with long term interests in mind.  They rushed to pass ACA and now they're rushing to "replace" it while they should be looking at what's working and building on that.  Deficit spending has become a way of life for the last 3+ decades while they continue to screw over future generations by using future dollars for current votes.  We could go on all day but 99% of the time they say/do whatever they need to toe the party line and get re-elected at the expense of others.

Please explain how what I said is hypocritical and how I'm privileged.  I laughed at the reps when they dropped the ball in 2012, I've criticized both sides at different times and I've voted for candidates from both parties in major elections.  I think you meant to say I am indifferent which I'm not I just don't let the results of an election ruin my day or turn me into an angry person who attacks others because like most things in my life I control 99% of the outcome not the president, governor, mayor, etc.  You know nothing about me other than whatever assumptions you continue to make based on a few message board posts.  Those assumptions are driven by the fact that you don't agree with me and continue to talk down to me and anyone else that doesn't agree with you.
As of late in this forum you can't can't seem to post without constantly attacking people you don't agree with or getting in some little jab which is quite petulant.  I really hope it doesn't bleed into your work because then you'll end up one of those angry teachers who spends half of class complaining about how they're underpaid and under appreciated instead of actually doing their job.  Everyone here had a teacher like that and they remember them for the wrong reasons.

In 1994 when CA voters passed prop 187 (later deemed unconstitutional by a federal court) it was estimated then that there were 1.3M illegal immigrants in the state costing taxpayers about 3B a year.  The most recent estimate of those numbers are now 2.9M illegal immigrants costing taxpayers over 25B a year.  The state and some cities thumbed their noses when the feds wanted to crack down on sanctuary cities but had no problems asking for fed help when the Oroville dam led to evacuation orders.  Nothing would surprise me at this point when it comes to how this state operates.

No reason to trade for Paul.  The Lakers are so far away from contending right now and shouldn't be trading any of the young core guys they're trying to build around.  If Paul really wants to come to LA he can do it in 2018 when the Lakers will have the money and he can become a FA.

There's a lot of angry people out there and also a lot of people who only care about themselves, others be damned.  A few weeks ago I went to a local bagel store and as I'm getting ready to leave I hear tires screech.  I look over and see a guy in a beaten up pickup who no joke pulled into some bushes as he's jumping out of his car.  He screams "what the **** is your problem" to a guy pulling up behind him.  The guy behind him seemed like he was mad too but not ready to fight mad.  His response was something like "I was backing up as you came around the corner and you almost hit me, calm down."  Luckily the guy who was screaming obscenities kind of backed off as I was expecting it to escalate when it first started but he still had to make sure that he was the tough guy ready to go there.
Less than two weeks ago my better half and I walked to dinner when we were house sitting for someone who lives a few miles away.  We had the walk sign twice at a major street and had we not waited to see if the cars coming up to red lights wanting to turn right were going to stop we had would have gotten ran over more than once.  One was a teen girl who didn't even California roll it she just blew through the red light and you could see her looking at her phone and not the road.  Another time two guys in a beater in their early 20's ended up stopping in the cross walk and they looked at us like we did something wrong.  My fiance wasn't happy and was staring at them while talking to me and I was expecting them to say something which maybe they did but they had the windows up.
In moments like that even though I'm pissed off I just try to check myself because you always come across stories were someone doesn't and it never ends well.  Saw an article yesterday that on Saturday a road rage incident resulted in 4 guys getting in a fight, more than one of them got stabbed then when one of the cars sped off they ran some lady over who was in a cross walk.  This was at 5pm and the lady was probably just out for a walk trying to get exercise.  She survived but it just reinforces the fact that if you're going to say something to someone there's the possibility they'll take it to that next level.

Actually I voted for Gary Johnson (same in 2012) and I've voted in every election since I turned 18 in 2000.  It has nothing to do with privilege I just get a kick out of seeing a lot of people on the left who spouted for years about being tolerant not being able to practice what they preach.  Keep talking down to people it just continues to prove the point a lot of people have made in this thread as to one reason why the dems lost.  Being condescending douches and writing the other side off helped Trump get elected.

In hindsight I wouldn't have done it if I realized it was going to ruin summer television.  I spent plenty of time outside but I still liked watching TV and the case was on or being discussed on most channels.  At least our 7th grade teacher let us watch the verdict in class at which point you either cheered or booed and at that age your opinion on the subject came from your parents.

Trump winning was the best thing that could have happened to them if they get their shit in order.  I felt the same way about the dems in 2004 then the reps in 2012 yet both times the incumbent won because the other party trotted out bad candidates or rather they ran on the "I'm not the other guy" platform.
Democrats are who they are and that's a big reason why Trump got elected.  For the last so many years we've heard the dems and SJW's talking about how we have to be tolerant of every little thing and respect people's decisions/way of life/whatever.  Now they've shown that they don't know how to take a loss and it epitomizes the participation trophy generation who thought just showing up was enough.  Like gotbeer I didn't vote for Trump (or Clinton) but seeing people need a safe space and the SJW's having meltdowns has made it at the very least that much more amusing.

Not all of them as some people tend to move from the left towards the middle or right as they get older.  It goes both ways of course but I'd bet more people move from left to right than from right to left as they age.  During the primaries there was a poll asking millennial voters if they supported more money going towards certain social causes and/or welfare and the majority were in favor.  When they changed the question to say it would be supported by raising taxes the majority who had jobs were against it hitting their wallets.  Everything sounds good in theory but even some of the most idealistic younger voters realize what sounds good and actually paying for what sounds good are two different things.
When I was 18 I was a democrat and over the years I continued to put in time at work and towards professional certifications. All the while I saw how much I paid in taxes while some able bodied adults expected a handout while sitting on their asses.  I worked for a non profit working with HUD/Section 8 and came across some very hard working people who deserved help which is what social welfare systems are there for.  At the same time there were others who milked the system that made those voters dependent on it.  I've definitely moved towards the middle or even right on some issues over the last 16 years and I've seen some younger voters doing the same.
