  1. Trout is a Mickey Mantle type player (not even overhyping, the stats back it up). Puig is maybe a Vladimir Guerrero type player if he's lucky ( and I have serious doubts he's going to be close to the player Vladdy was) Next year I see Puig doing something like: .290/.340/.520 with 30 HR - still very good, and probably puts him around 5-7 WAR depending on his defense. Trout has proven the last two full years that he's a legit .325/.410/.565 guy with 25-30 bombs, and ~40 bags - good for 9-11 WAR Trout is clearly on a different level, it's not even close
  2. Napoli is a way better 1st baseman/DH than the guy the organization essentially chose over him (Trumbo). Then they went and compounded an already horrendous decision by signing Albert Pujols. Now look where that has got us -- Pujols is arguably the worst contract ever, and Napoli is still mashing for a rival. It's just 3 straight offseasons of unbelievably bad decisions made by this org (Wells, Pujols, Hamilton). If it happens once, I'm fine chalking it up as a bad decision, and I was glad they fired Reagins. The Pujols and Hamilton signings only reinforce the simple fact that the owner is the root of the problem for this team. He's the same idiot who hired Tony Reagins in the first place.
  3. I really just think it's ridiculous that Arte Moreno is trying to mail it in next year. How in the world can Mike Butcher keep his job? This pitching staff is FINISHED. Guarantee you we will be one of the worst teams in baseball with Fatty and Butcher in the dugout
  4. I miss him too. He was so under-appreciated. Dude has a career 130 WRC+. He would be the second best hitter on the Angels by a fair amount, and he quietly played very good defense at 1B this year. It's sad that he's probably going to outproduce Pujols the next 4-5 years. He's also a far better player than Mark Trumbo (the guy who "replaced" him). I won't even get into Wells, we all know that was a terrible move from the beginning.
  5. So you agree that Scioscia should be fired for not making the playoffs the last 4 years? Glad to see you finally concede the argument Thank you LT
  6. Wow...you really are something. Of course they've had slow starts the last 4 years. The fat lard in the dugout allows them to dick around in spring training I've heard.
  7. So you two, and Arte are afraid to try something new even though you KNOW that the current coach gets shit results? Arte is a moron for not firing the real guy who has failed to produce results. Him and Fat Scioscia need to go. Scioscia is incapable of getting this ballclub prepared to play out of spring training. Mark my words, no matter what happens this offseason, we will be a mediocre ball club.
  8. So then tell us, LT, what is the point of having coaches if they don't matter?
  9. Hahahaha. They kept Butcher. **** this shit. Unbelievable. You can make an argument about keeping Sosh because of his contract (which I don't agree with, he still has to go), but keeping Butcher is the dumbest shit possible. This is the worst pitching staff in baseball. Unreal. Angels will be a .500 ballclub because firing the Bench coach and hitting coach does not solve the root of the problem
  10. I've read this message board a lot over the years, and even though I disagree with him on issues quite often, Scott most certainly does have connections. His success rate on calling callups/trades is pretty good. He's been the first to call several things IIRC, before even the twitter guys (Alden, Fletcher, Digiavonni, etc.) I don't doubt for a second that he's been told by former players that Sosh tries to control/micromanage their every movement. Trevor Bell OPENLY said it on twitter. Torii Hunter once called out Sosh in April last year saying that the coaches need to step up too. I'm sure you Sosh apologists will just dismiss this saying those players are bitter and blah blah blah (like Jshep said), but there are clear signs of Scioscia being a control freak in the clubhouse.
  11. The only sport I believe "chemistry" is important in is hockey. Being on the same page as your linemates is one of the most important things in that sports. Talent and coaching is what the Angels lacked this season. And if we had a better owner, we'd be in much better shape right now.
  12. ****ing horseshit. This team is finished. Arte has ruined it for me. Don't know if I can put up with this crap for much longer. The fans, the players, the organization needs change. How Arte doesn't realize this after 4 straight seasons of missing the playoffs is beyond me. To be frank, I'd be pretty happy if Arte sold the team at this point.
  13. Adenhart. Before that, I was excited about Weaver, Santana, and Skaggs. This team hasn't had a high end pitching prospect in like 4-5 years. Sad.
  14. Trade Pujols, Hamilton, and Trout to the Yankees for Ivan Nova and David Robertson.
  15. I think the Oilers will be improved this year. Their young stars are getting better and better (Hall already broke out), and I like the Perron trade even though I was a big Paajarvi fan. I think Perron can provide a veteran presence that the Oilers desperately need in their top 6. Hall-RNH-Eberle Yakupov-Gagner-Perron Should be a hell of a lot of fun to watch at the very least...
  16. This will be Weaver in 5 years most likely...sad
  17. Romine needs to be on this team next year IMO. We could use someone with an awesome glove considering how bad our defense is
  18. The Rangers are most definitely not done yet. They need to sweep the Astros, and win 3 out of 4 from the Angels at home to give themselves a good chance -- very doable. They need the Indians to go 3-3 in their last 6 games, not impossible even considering they play two bad teams - it's baseball, anything can happen.
  19. I remember this man calling every moment so perfectly RIP Rory Markas, you were one hell of an announcer and an even better human being.
  20. Obama is not as good of a leader as George Bush though, that's the real difference between the two. Bush made tough decisions in one of the toughest times in American history. Bush had a way harder term than Obama has, and it's not even close. Obama has let spending get even more out of control after almost a decade long war...let's face it, Bush didn't have much of a choice, Obama does.
  21. This is a huge reason why we aren't even in wild card contention right now. Imagine if they could go 13-5 against that shitty team. We'd be like 4-5 games back of the wild card. Losing 10 games to an unbelievably bad team is something that doesn't sit well with me.
