I enjoyed the interview.
I know a lot of fans don't like him.  Some of it may be warranted.  Some of it may not be.  I'm not happy that he hasn't been on the field much, but that's about it.  I'm a fan.  I like him.  I root for him.  I hope he has a monster year.

Beggars can’t be choosers. We don’t have a ton of options here, that’s what I don’t understand about this thread. The FA selection is limited and we don’t have the resources to trade for help, but nobody wants Teoscar or Soler. If we don’t improve, this is a 90-100 loss team as constructed. 

I guess baseball is pointless to watch this year. 
 
worst case scenario this offseason. It’s not that I wanted to give this contract to this guy, but the dodgers doing whatever the fuck they want is so crazy. 
 
literally the only hope I have is for Arte to sell. Can’t wait to lost 90 games this year at the major league level and not develop the minor leagues. How long can a franchise be 25th-30th on prospect lists before they actually make some wholesome changes?? 

Those other players are mashing all year and are in the playoffs. Trout is hurt. For me it's difficult to argue with.

Since the trade deadline, the Angels are 8-24. Well done, Perry, well done.
 

I get it, and I don't disagree that he "had to go for it." I just don't like the overall picture, which is as I illustrated in the first couple paragraphs: sending the franchise into deeper debt on lottery picks. As a rule, I'm more of the Bill Stoneman mold: hold onto your prospects, even unreasonably. That approach notoriously halted a Kendrick/Wood (and parts) for Miggy Cabrera trade which looked awful a year or two later, but it also built up substantial farm depth that gave the Angels their best run in franchise history.
I'm not on the team, but I'm also not a "win now, worry about tomorrow" fan. To me that is short-sighted and just leads to perennial disappointment. To me the farm is sacred, and the most important aspect of a franchise. Until the Angels build a good and vibrant farm system, we'll just get more of the same: year after year of 70-85 win seasons.

I have to say that watching the Reds play last night was enlightening.   Guys hustling, taking the extra base, stealing multiple times, diving catches, bunts for hits.....  a bunch of 5'7 guys basically having fun, and beating the crap out of a much more physically gifted, higher payroll, Angel squad.
They were truly and entertaining, and fun team to watch.
I want some of that for our Angels.

I'm actually thinking about creating another duplicate league since I've got so much interest.

The team has looked dead for over a week. And that’s after they had a horrible stretch before the All-Star break.
He called them out last night, and they show up with another pathetic display today.

God, this team is hard to watch.

The entire team has zero life, it’s truly sad. 7-1 ass whooping yet again…. They all look like they don’t want to be there when they can be in the middle of a playoff race if they weren’t a bunch of pussies. 
 
Who cares when Sandoval sits there and says “I need to be better” blah blah blah… it’s the same shit every year. It’s not even fun to be a fan of baseball when you like the angels, they are a 100% embarrassment.

Other than the injuries which may have been unpreventable, the biggest fail on the 2023 Anges is the starting pitching.   Utterly gutless and pathetic.

So we agree on that. My point was simply that even if mandated, it was (almost certainly) up to Minasian on who to trade, and for whom. And the fact is that most of the people he traded for haven't done well, or been just OK, and the team plummeted further.
 
 

Arte and delusional fans were the only ones who thought this could be a playoff team and that they should buy.   They doubled down on 15 with the dealer showing a King. 

I think it is kind of funny how you're trying to school me, mmc. 
Anyhow, Perry is still the one making the deals. Arte isn't -- as far as we know - telling him who to trade. 
And before you say "but hindsight is 20-20," the whole gig is about how things look in hindsight. Good moves look good in hindsight, bad moves don't. Perry's overall "body of work" this past month and half looks terrible.

i don't think i've ever known a team that for years with same/similar core players who consistently never answer a bell. it dumbfounds my mind how unbelievably soft this franchise has become. 
when it comes time to show what they're made of and if they have any pride, these guys are the suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked.

So Perry got pieces we needed - for this year.   A year that we were not gonna make the playoffs regardless.  What did he get for 2024+.  Maybe a comp 2nd round pick.  That’s the prize awaiting the Angels lol smh. Brilliance by the organization lol.
