I believe it was Reggie Jackson who said, "Tom Seaver is so good blind people go to the games just to hear him pitch."

An anonymous baseball announcer was watching a young couple in the stands - he kisses her on the strikes and she kisses him on the balls.

After a long road trip, the team bus took them to the stadium where dozens of wives and GFs were waiting, "Okay guys...look horny."

He got his 1st MLB base hit today and two SBs - but he should have been thrown out on both.

Luis No-bueno had another sweet day this afternoon going 0-3 with 3 punch-outs. Maybin pinch-hit for him late in the game.

I'm waiting for our august board member who insisted Pounders was a good addition and will help the team.
Great job, Glen (one N). Yesterday's game was painful to watch (in the ninth inning) but I have to remind myself this is at best a .500 team. Wait'll next year!

Great job, Glen. It's difficult to express Angel love on this past week. Yesterday's win was more like sugar on shit, but JCR pitched well - but maybe Texas was looking forward to a few days off. Bad, bad week and even more difficult to watch.

Re: The Official "I Hate the Angels" Thread
I seriously felt like I want to punch someone in the face after the game today. It's one thing to lose to Vlad, it's another to lose to the Ryan ................ing Boddy.
The ................ing Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.I looked at Lou, when GA was at bat and the bases juiced. He said to me, "He wouldn't, would he?" Our Yankee fans with us were soon long gone. Amazing GA performance.

Congrats Glen for the article and speculation about this week. This season exemplifies and old Scioscia comment - OGAAT. I suspect the oddsmakers in Las Vegas are just as confused as we are.

It's hard for me to put the blame on Scioscia with half of the pitching staff on the DL. Yesterday's game could easily have been a W, with Bedrosian, Street and Bailey back. With a lousy farm prospects and budgetary constraints (from prior year's poor decisions), I cannot see how a Joe Maddon could make a difference. He went to the Cubs who are loaded with talent from nice draft picks over the years from their poor finishes.
I agree with Adam and his "bad cycle" comment.

I don't know that there is any predictive value in ST stats, but I definitely pay more attention the final week to ten days of ST than early on when batters are facing Jimmy Bagadonuts from AA Scranton.
is Bagadonuts a FA this year?

I didn't move to SoCal until 1968. Then I became an Angels fan.

Has this been discussed here? Very interesting article.

Great Baseball Quotes

Only old timers (like me) will remember Jay Johnstone. He was an OF for the Angels and a few other teams. When he was a Dodger, he showed up for a urine test and offered his sample. It came up with some discoloration, so he came back with a sample filled with apple juice and said, "Try this."
I met him (I think in 1970) in a bar in Anaheim. He was with Jim Fregosi. I asked him what he was going to do after he retired and he said, "I'll write a book called, "The bases were loaded and so was I." It was the first time I'd heard that line. Subsequently, a book has been written by that same name. I haven't read it to see it there is attribution to Johnstone. But he was a real baseball character. Once as a Dodger, he and Jerry Reuss donned maintenance uni's and posed as the team who dragged the infield after the 5th inning. Lasorda was furious when he looked up and saw the two of them. Once in the Dodger dugout, he bought a hot dog from a vendor and ate it in the dugout.
Very colorful guy.
