Excellent analysis, Doc.

Wearing Mike Trout's number?

Excellent post, Dave.

For a few weeks, we were led to believe "Broadway" Joe Blanton was. Then came the NLCS. He only cost the Dodgers a couple games.

At this point what difference does it make?

My favorite part of the Angels week is reading Glen's LWIAB.
Remember when we would win series after series? Yeah, it has been a long time.

The Kinsler - Fielder trade has to rank up their with the MLB's worst trades. Even though the Tigers are still on the hook for some of Fielder's contract, it was a steal.
Good job, as usual, Glen (with one "n").

It'll be a cold day in hell before he becomes an Angel. Moreno would just say no thanks.

Artie tried the Steinbrenner/Lurie recipe and it failed. So, the Angels are stuck for several years. I don't care who the manager is, if you inherit a sack of turds, you still have a sack of turds. If the starting pitching didn't have the injuries, this team would have a dozen (maybe) more wins, but still a .500 type team.
It's going to take patience and a St. Louis/Astros/Royals approach to re-building a team. The organization is a few years away from seriously competing again.

Posted on FB by Ellen Bell is Smith was traded to the Cubs. No details in the post, so i don't know if it occurred or not.

Oh, I don't know. I hear he and Steve Howe are working out together both planning on coming back.

The market for washed up set-up guys isn't exactly robust. Plus, I believe he's a FA next year.

My guess is this was the background music for the meeting.

And so goes this season. I fully expected Trout to be out for two months.

On any other team in baseball, he's not in the rotation. I was certainly wrong about him. Felt like he was primed to finally put it together and break out. I guess it was hopes triumph over experience as they say.
Me too, Doc. After his All Star selection last year, I hoped he'd come around in 2016. Nicest guy you'd want to ever meet. He spoke at our Fan Fest in Arizona a few years ago. He brought family members and his gf. He stayed around and answered questions, posed for pics and signed autographs. So hoping he would be the real deal.

I can't figure out this guy. The ump missed a couple easy strike calls in the 1st, and it seemed to bother him. Then he couldn't finish off a hitter.
Head case? I'm beginning to think so.

Perez, Pennington, and Petit are the new Mathis. Scioscia has his dream team.
Bandy is dinged up. Probably could play, but needs an extra day.

Realistically, this is what I expected from this team. The Angels cannot compete with a team with a good offense. Spotty SP and RP will keep them in half of the games and the top four hitters will do what they can. A .500 season would be overachieving.
-
The fact that he is the 5th hole batting shows how weak this team is offensively.

Damn! I cannot imagine how his kids can cope. Brian was really a fun and nice young man. This is so sad!
