Cy Weaver!! I agree with whomever said they were tired of the old "Cy opposing pitcher" lines. Its tired already. That aside however there is nobody I would trust more on this staff in a big game than Weav, velocity or not. The man has more heart than most.

Once Tanaka is signed with whomever, when do you think the other available pitchers will start to be signed? If we don't get him, as are the odds, this becomes very important.

I'm eager to read what you guys think.

Don't mind this deal at all.  Wondering if the Angels are really targeting Garza and are waiting for Tanaka to be posted to use him as a negotiating tool with Garza.

Garza won't get more than Weaver and Wilson (5/$77.5MM), at least from the Angels - I just don't see them wanting to insult Jered and CJ by offering an inferior pitcher more money, even with inflation.

I agree that Skaggs is in the rotation. I don't see much point in sending him to Salt Lake, especially considering its Salt Lake. If he can re-capture his mechanics in spring training, I think he's penciled into the rotation. Santiago is the swing man, which makes me wonder what they plan for Blanton.

Angelsfirst reacted to mrskarentrout in Kole Calhoun or Ginger God?
Hello! I recently wrote an article for another sports website I work on, and I thought it would be perfect to post it on here!

Upcoming and rising star of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Kole Calhoun has had the Angel’s fan raving about his ginger-ish locks and defensive power. From the moment Calhoun has set foot on to the field, he has proven why he deserved to be pulled up from Class AAA’s Salt Lake City Bees. While playing for the Bees, Calhoun batted at an average of .354 with a total of 12 home-runs, 49 runs batted in, and 10 stolen bases in under 60 games.

In the midst of Peter Bourjos’s injury, Kole was called up from Triple-A to help replace defensively in the outfield. Kole has made some astounding plays while playing right field. Whether it was a diving catch or his cannon ball arm, Calhoun has proven himself and the whole team that he has earned a position in the starting line-up. Batting wise, Kole Calhoun has earned himself 4 major-league homeruns in under 30 games. His current average is at .238, batting in 11 runs. Defensively and offensively, Kole Calhoun has shown us more than expected, giving him the nick name of “Lucky Ginger”.

Now that Peter Bourjos has come back from the disabled-list, many fans question what will happen to the outfield and Kole Calhoun? Calhoun was built around Bourjos’s injury. So far, Calhoun has had little to no flaws while playing ball in the majors. However, his main weakness he has is batting on outside pitches. Kole has not only performed well on the field, but he has also charmed several of Halos fans. He will definitely be a sight to see.

Calhoun has proven to me and several other fans that he deserves to continue to play with the Angels, but that is not our decision. Will they place him back in to MiLB, or will they keep him playing for the Angels in the big leagues?

How do you guys feel about it? Do you have any feed back for me?

I don't have the most respect for some people in the sports journalism industry. Mainly the sensationalist writers and talking heads at ESPN that really don't know the finer points of each sport. But the media should absolutely tear Scioscia a new one tomorrow. Him saying that is basically spitting in the face of reporters and telling them that they are full blown retarded. So condescending. Why didn't a reporter just snap back at him saying "DID YOU NOT WATCH THE FING GAME!? Chris couldn't even throw the runner out on an FREAKIN PITCH OUT!"
The catchers are HORRIBLE defensively. There is no room whatsoever to defend them. I mean this is like when he was defending Mathis nonstop to delusionally justify not playing Napoli. If I'm a pitcher and Scioscia were grilling me daily about how I'm allowing runners with how incompetent the catchers are, I would sneak a hand grenade into the next start and throw it in the dugout in his direction. Not like his fat ass would outrun it.
