So he's kicking tires on Nava...this is Eppler's version of what Dipoto did except, instead of NL West scrubs, he's checking out scrubs formerly from the AL East. We lack depth and, if the price is low, why not? I'll save my whining for when Upton, Cespedes, and Gordon are off the board.

3) Mike Clevinger, RHP, Grade B+: Age 24, Tommy John survivor stolen from Angels in 2014, posted 2.73 ERA with 145/40 K/BB in 158 innings in Double-A, command has improved tremendously over last three seasons and he has the stuff to back that up. He was the third base coach until Maddon moved on to TB -- then he became the bench coach.  I agree its good to have him back.   I also like the idea of Griffin focusing more on the IFers -- he was chiefly responsible for turning Eck into a ML passable SS, and both AK and HK heaped a lot of praise on him over the years for helping them defensively.

Most likely it's nothing (hopefully neither of these guys lost a family member), but it seems like quite the coincidence. Could be a trade is in the works and these two have been agreed upon and the rest is being worked out.
