  1. Is this a sarcastic or serious comment? I'm by no means saying Conger should be getting the start today, but does Conger get no credit for catching the 3 hit bullpen shutout??
  2. Wasn't aware sticks could have a sexual orientation... but then again... Sticks can be quite phallic in nature.
  3. The conclusion of the article is that the teams are quite even. Did you guys read the same article as I did? "So forget about the run differentials. These two teams are quite even, qualitatively. The additions of Samardzija and Lester might seem to give the A’s a slight edge, but the loss of Cespedes – without anyone in particular to replace his production – makes that edge even slighter. How even are they? When FanGraphs runs the rest of the season, they come up with a dead heat: 94-68 records for both teams. Baseball Prospectus, same thing."
  4. Really, the question should be, "What's more valuable, 0.66 everyday, or 3.3 every fifth day?" (5 / 3.3 = .66)
  5. Is this thread mostly serious or just satire...?
  6. Is this realistic at all? What are the chances that Cory Rasmus can effectively start games in the MLB?
  7. How would he lacerate his foot during a game?
  8. Is this based on something factual or just speculation?
  9. The Athletics would have to play .550 ball (37-30) for the remainder of their season for us to beat them if we go 40-28.
  10. You do have a knack for finding something Scioscia-related to nitpick, don't you? Too bad you don't put more thought into your nitpicks though as from what I've seen they don't generally make any sense.
  11. Yeah and in a perfect world Mike Trout would play every position and never have to take a day off. While we're at it, let's move to a two-man rotation and just use Richards and Weaver for the rest of the season. I am a fan of Cron but his .586 OPS over the last week isn't exactly topping the charts.
  12. Hamilton is taking Cron's spot as the DH so it seems to me that Cowgill is in the line up because he is an outfielder.
  13. Smith Morin Jepsen Grilli Thatcher Acquisition? Salas, Rasmus, Alvarez, someone else? Hopefully we don't see Rich Hill again this year.
  14. Now can we all get together, clasp hands, and pray so that God will focus his priorities away from baseball and more towards world-wide issues?
  15. How many regular players are there? I count 6 or 7. Trout, Hamilton, Kendrick, Aybar, Cron, Freese? Calhoun should be, though Cowgill needs playing time, too. Aybar, Kendrick, and Freese all are having worse offensive seasons than Albert. That leaves: Trout, Hamilton, and Cron. Cron is a rookie, and though I'd like to see him batting higher than 7th, I don't think the 3 hole is appropriate for him. So we have Trout and Hamilton, who are batting 2nd and 4th, respectively. I'd like to see a everyday line up of: Calhoun Trout Hamilton Pujols Cron Aybar Kendrick Freese Conger Though the current line up is scoring plenty of runs, and I appreciate the recent consistency of the line up, to be honest. (With the exception of the Calhoun/Cowgil platoon which I believe is over-done) If Albert weren't making all this money and didn't have outstanding career numbers, then chances are he wouldn't be batting 3rd and not directly behind Our Savior. But to say that he is the second worst regular hitter on the team is disingenuous, IMO.
  16. Just curious - by what parameters is he the "2nd worst hitter on the team"?
  17. I was at the game and I'm fairly certain that they did indeed play Buttercup.
  18. I'm more confident in Kohn than Jepsen or Salas. It's possible that Morin will be ready but of course I don't believe he has pitched past AA yet.
