They pushed him out the door with the five year offer. They knew what they were doing just like Bavasi and claiming he could replace Ryan with two pitchers. He insulted him right to Huston so he didn't have the legacy if being the first GM to pen a million dollar a year contract to a pitcher. Dumbass of the decade and it doesn't take hindsight to see that. Maybe you like where you work and suck up a small cost if living increase every couple years but then again I doubt your a superstar accountant so you have less options. If you are then why cheat yourself since there are plenty of good places to work with great staffs, company picnics and stock options to negotiate. Or is being the local water cooler hero good enough?

The initial offer was 5/$130 which poisoned the well. After that the 10 year contract was tossed out there to save face with the fans but the damage was done. They knew Pujols was packing his bags for a better deal.Daniels pulled this bullshit with Hamilton initially making a token one year deal then acting surprised that a month later after making no attempt to sign him. Josh takes a deal somewhere else. Then he has the gall to say he never gave the Rangers a chance.
The Cards didn't want make the commitment and their PR department did a great job making it look like they were earnest in their negotiations.

The feeling of doom in my gut sickens me. I had hopes, high hopes and now they just look like the same ol team. Hopefully, unlike the last few years, "Its only 2 games"' mantra is true and this team starts winning!  I will say however, I am soooooo sick of people slamming on Pujols for no reason. The dude was on track to hit 30 bombs and over 100 RBIs last year on one leg (or no legs really), and so far this year, he has 2 doubles, has scored a couple of runs and overall looks better. STOP IT WITH THE PUJOLS SUCKS CRAP. What sucks so far is the pitching, plain and simple. 18 runs in 2 games????? That is completely unacceptable.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again-Blantons problem is he gets his cup caught in his pubic hairs when he pitches. After very single pitch, he grabs his junk and readjusts. Its out of control. Obviosly as he goes into windup, his cup grabs onto his pubes and pinches him in a delicate spot and it affects the delivery. He needs to get a smaller cup, or do away with it all together. I mean look at how huge his cup is. His junk enters the room 5 minutes before he does. Im telling you, he's very "uncomfortable" while pitching.

Crazy how much fans choose not to remember. The glorious day on Dec 5th, 2011. Aside from the poor start in April of 2012, he was the Pujols we all thought we were getting. Then he played on one leg last season (nursing two leg injuries) and still hit 17 HR in 99 games.
 
I guess I just don't understand the hate and negative tone toward this guy. You should be excited to see what he can do this season instead of fantasizing about trading the guy already. He is not going anywhere and it's my hope that in 3-5 years he'll become a very good DH for us in the way of Edgar Martinez/David Ortiz for the remainder of his contract.

I gotta admit, I'm beginning to get excited for the season. I'm usually excited in November, but this year, after the last few years, I've distanced myself as to not get too emotionally involved in a crappy team. Something feels different this ST, and after reading this, I'm feeling optimistic.
