  1. My default home page is Google, because I'm always looking stuff up.
  2. No election here. Just casually watching the results of some of the others across the country.
  3. Ok, we have the Bobo role filled. Anybody want to sign on to say "I'm convinced, you saw the Loch Ness Monster"?
  4. I knew that he had an elite skill, else we wouldn't have hired him.
  5. Especially since the Rays are one of the low-budget teams in MLB. They wouldn't deal that much talent for a guy who would be gone at the end of his current deal.
  6. Starts this Sunday. Some predictions for the new season: Matt will say "There is a squatch in these woods" or some variation at least once per episode. Ranae will make a reference to "a man in a costume" at least once per episode while visiting people who have allegedly seen a squatch. Bobo will say "Welcome to the club" at least once per week under the same circumstances. Just as it seems that the team has found solid proof of the existence of sasquatches, some mysterious and highly unlikely equipment malfunction will fail to record any evidence of it. Honestly, I thought for sure that the show would be canceled after last season. Maybe Discovery will pay me big bucks for my new weekly series, Finding the Loch Ness Monster.
  7. DR, no one would ever accuse you of fishing for sympathy. What you say is too obviously heartfelt. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes from reading it. It was the same kind of weekend for me. The anniversary of my mother's passing was the day after your anniversary. For some reason it has been particularly vivid this year, with a lot of reminders. I can't explain it. My thoughts and prayers are with you, my friend.
  8. I remember a story about Barry Bonds discussing hitting with him, either during or right after the 2002 World Series.
  9. The ballpark spot is already picked. It's just a matter of whether it's AAA or MLB. Junction of 215 and Charleston. Bring Tarpy along.
  10. About time that somebody facilitated our advanced scouting. It has been a major problem for years.
  11. It wasn't his production that was the problem. It was the salary. It wasn't figured into the team's budget, and they had planned to use that money to fill other needs.
  12. I remember the Braves doing that with Greg Maddux late in his career, because his agent assured them that they had multiple offers and they were just going to use the QO as a bargaining chip. Then Maddux accepted it, and it screwed up their entire offseason strategy. I am surprised that the Yankees offered Granderson. I believe that his decline is permanent and irreversible*. * Presuming that Alex Rodriguez doesn't hook him up with a clinic in Miami.
  13. I have just the spot for a new ballpark for them. It's about 15 minutes from the house.
  14. I'm tempted to just guess Yankees on all of them, and I will get at least 75 percent right.
  15. That was my question. The only place I use it is at work, because our IT people have decided that it is our "official" browser. Of course, we're talking IE 7, because one of our proprietary database programs doesn't play well with any update past that. We had Firefox for a while, but they must have believed that it was working too well, so they took it away from us. As you can tell, we're on the cusp of advanced technology. One day we may even ditch Windows XP. When I started with my current agency in 2001, they were still using an MS-DOS based database program.
  16. There is a guy I work with who overuses it to the point that I sometimes have to walk out of the room when he is talking. He uses it as an adjective for almost every noun he uses. He also injects the word "realistically" into conversations so often that it has become kind of a game among the rest of us to just throw it in for no reason when we are talking to each other.
  17. I would be fine with both Vargas and Wilson signing. Would like to see Brian McCann sign, as he would be a huge upgrade at catcher, but I doubt that we will put out that kind of cash on a FA.
  18. According to an article on Fox Sports, the Arizona Diamondbacks are expected to make a big run at Price as well. http://www.foxsportsarizona.com/mlb/arizona-diamondbacks/story/Expect-D-backs-to-aim-high-for-starting-?blockID=956729&feedID=3698
  19. What I admire most about him is that he seems to be more about doing what is right, not holding the party line. Of course, the GOP can't have that kind of stuff, so he doesn't get invited to their events. They had rather have mindless parrots like Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin.
  20. Had one of his baseball cards many years ago.
  21. I'm thinking that they would want one or the other but not both, plus prospects. The Rays usually don't take on much payroll.
  22. Plus Nathan is 38, and his production could go off the cliff at any time.
