  1. It's an interesting article on legal precedent and theory, but obviously won't happen. Unless Derek Jeter buys the team.
  2. Remember when the Angels alienated Trout by giving him a modest raise after his amazing rookie year and he was never going to sign an extension because of it?
  3. And MLBPA will 100% use their NBD response to Vlad's disclosure as precedent.
  4. I don't know, last time the Angels went to arbitration trying to get out of a bad contract, they lost and looked bad in the process.
  5. Are you trying to use your phone's LTE connection?
  6. I think that gets some people around here the opposite of deflated.
  7. On the KC broadcast, no less an authority than Rex Hudler said that Eric Hinske fixed Ohtani's leg kick.
  8. The team will be fine (or it won't), but "2 days off cooled the offense" is lame. The only thing cooling the offense is the opposing pitching and defense. And the marine layer.
  9. Why can't I give my own post the Debbie Downer reaction. Edit: much obliged.
  10. Billy seems like he's doing a heckuva job, but I'll wait until the Angels have a winning season under his leadership before I drop my drawers.
  11. Would you suggest he follow you on Twitter?
  12. It's not a new Angels season without a thread about our broadcast team! The only one I really miss is Rory.
  13. I'm not a big fan of his work for Farmer's Insurance.
  14. Spin Rate (SR) Definition A pitcher's Spin Rate represents the rate of spin on a baseball after it is released. It is measured in revolutions per minute. The amount of spin on a pitch changes its trajectory. The same pitch thrown at the same Velocity will end up in a different place depending on how much it spins. (For instance, a fastball with a high Spin Rate appears to have a rising effect on the hitter, and it crosses the plate a few inches higher than a fastball of equal Velocity with a lower Spin Rate. Conversely, a lower Spin Rate on a changeup tends to create more movement.) As more data have become available, most experts have agreed that fastballs and breaking balls are tougher to hit when they possess higher Spin Rates. In fact, some data suggest that Spin Rate correlates more closely than Velocity to swinging-strike percentage. http://m.mlb.com/glossary/statcast/spin-rate
  15. The only tough decision with Ohtani will be how many bobblehead nights to squeeze out of his combined Cy Young/Rookie of the Year/Silver Slugger awards.
