Yeah so, for those who had a hard time understanding what I meant by a pressure situation, you just saw one. Bottom of the ninth, two outs, man on second, down by a run, Kendrick at the bat... Gee what should I bet my money on he'll do?
Well it's Detroit.
I'm more worried about Howard than Datsyuk or Zetterberg. We have to score more than one goal to beat this team and he's been really tough the last few games.
Like the next time we're down by one in the 7th,8th, 9th 10th... with a couple guys on and he strikes out or rolls over into a DP.
That's ok. The point's just as valid now.
Like I said, tie game, one out, no one on is not a stressful at bat.
It's going to take more than a tie game, one out , nobody on at bat to change my take on this guy.
Sorry but- clutch hit, low stress AB does not make this guy a clutch hitter.
Same game but a man on second or two outs and a guy on third and I bet this guy doesn't come through.
I didn't really mean a mirror statistic wise. He's a power hitter who I think could steadily improve to some MVP contention years latter in his career.
The funniest thing I've seen this season was a few games back when Kendrick was intentionally walked with the game on the line. The next guy up gets a hit (I think a walk off) and we win.
I too would trade Kendrick and put Callaspo at second.
Trade Kendrick for a reliever or prospects; put Callaspo at second; leave Lucho at third. If Lucho continues to do well, trade Cowart for pitching prospects. Otherwise, give Cowart his shot at third next year.
