  1. It's good for the league to have it's MVP actually playing baseball in October, which Ohtani has NEVER done to this point. Wasting the Hall Of Fame careers of Trout & Ohtani with 9 straight years missing the post-season is a big reason for the Angels hate.
  2. So long as the value of a baseball franchise continues to increase, he'll react with a smile on his face. Or at some point, he'll cash out, and leave the fans with a decimated team to root for.
  3. People are still thrilled that he lowered beer prices by a couple of bucks 2 decades ago.
  4. Sure, why not. Renfroe’s streak will carry over as well because he left game while in on deck circle without a plate appearance.
  5. Kind of like saying, going to a matinee movie is a relatively good value. Even if you're going to see Howard The Duck. Obviously in that case, if you need the movie being good to be a big factor in the "value," then that would be a problem. I suppose paying to attend an Angels game is a better value, if you don't really care about who wins the game.
  6. Ducks have never had the #1 pick. Have the Angels? Edit: Found answer. They have, in 1975 & 1995.
  7. Someone is going to pay him with the expectation that he'll be pitching again in 2025, and for the duration of the contract. The question is, how many teams are willing to take that risk. The Dodgers may do it, although they need pitching. Perhaps they would hope Kershaw is able to stick around for 1 more season, and Ferris comes back strong next season following his TJ surgery.
  8. If we were making odds, what would be a reasonable assessment? I'd go: Dodgers: 3-2 Giants: 2-1 Padres: 4-1 Mariners: 9-2 Yankees: 6-1 Rest Of The Field: 7-1 Angels: 8-1 I included the Yankees, even though everyone is picking him to stay on the West Coast, because they're capable of throwing money at him, and they're a major market with a legendary franchise, that puts a premium on winning. I guess that ups my % of him staying in Anaheim from 0% to 12.5%.
  9. What makes you think Rendon is going to play next season?

  11. I believe they would be the ones having to vote for that, making it dead in the water. They want their cushy jobs for as long as possible.
  12. If the ticket was $10, and they threw in parking, a hot dog and a beer, I'd be down. That's what it would cost me to get a hot dog at Der Weinerschnitzel and a beer at the supermarket, and watch on tv comfortably on my couch.
  13. Big Primary fight? What a tool. Mitt won the last Primary with 71% of the vote. He's like a God in the state of Utah. Utah is as red a state as they come, and yet El Douche only got 58% of the vote there. I think he even lost Salt Lake City. They're no fan of his, so the idea that some MAGA Moron running against Mitt, would have stood a chance, is laughable. But then again, so is pretty much everything that comes out of the Orange Anus's mouth.
  14. Kinda sad to think that we live in a country where having 92 felony charges isn't enough to propel the other candidate to an easy victory, so people think that a new strain of a deadly virus is being made up so that he has a better chance. If Joe Biden had done even 10% of what Orange Man has done, or is accused of doing, there's simply no way the Democratic Party would stand by him. Honestly, if Joe Biden were proven to be senile with dementia, I'd still vote for him, because at least I know he wouldn't suddenly become a raving lunatic, anti-semite, misogynistic, egotistical, narcissistic racist, who successfully incited an insurrection in an attempt to overturn an election loss, because of the illness.
  15. At this point, people are literally paying to see and take pictures of Ohtani standing around in the dugout. They're not paying to see him pitch or hit, nor are they paying to see Mike Trout on the field. The service charges are literally more money than the ticket price itself. We got swept by Detroit at home for god's sake. The only people above the age of 10 that are enjoying attending these games in Anaheim, are fans of the opposing teams.
  16. Clearly there should be variety, and we should be talking about how well the Angels are doing, and their prospects for October. Well, instead of mentioning how they're probably about to lose a generational player for Nothing, we could discuss how Trout is having trouble playing more than 2/3rds of a season, while in the middle of a long term contract, or how their other high salaried player, Rendon, can't play more than 20% of a season since he was signed. In case it's gone unnoticed, I've also made quite a few posts about how the owner is a douchebag, and the Angels are going nowhere so long as he owns the team. This has nothing to do with Ohtani really, although in a way, it does. As I've said in several posts, dysfunction starts at the top. Also.....the title of this thread is "Ohtani Has Cleared Out His Locker," so forgive me for staying on topic.
  17. I don't really care about that. People can be wrong, but calling people names is just immature and childlike. Not to mention it's as if I'm the only one saying these things. Perhaps if I were the only one trashing the organization for the Shohei situation, I might appear troll like, but clearly others are embarrassed as well, being supporters of the team overall. And if Ohtani signs any sort of contract here, I'll be glad to come back and say how wrong I was, albeit shocked beyond belief. I realize that possibility exists, until he signs a contract, but imo, the signs all point to a more successful team offering him everything he's looking for, while his experience with the Angels has shown him that they can't. It's what known as "Scoreboard," and the Angels haven't even come close.
  18. I don't think Mike Trout is going anywhere. There's going to be a mountain of fallout already when Shohei signs elsewhere, and Trout is going to become the face of the franchise once again. He's got a contract nobody would trade for without severe concessions, and he's also got the right to veto a trade to any team he doesn't want to play for. No, he's not the Captain of the Titanic, that's good ol' Arte, but Mike's part of the crew, and he'll go down with the ship. He tied himself to it when he signed that contract, even though now he might be starting to realize that it's not going to get better as the years pass on his career, and he's playing on a team that never makes the playoffs.
  19. Some real welcoming people here. I'd be offended by being called a troll, but I can tell that certain people here are just asses, or at least they enjoy acting that way. I have been following the Angels since I moved to Orange County in the late 70's. And I've been a Ducks season seat holder since the 1st game they played in 1993. If it makes me a troll to post here about how big an embarrassment that a team I've rooted for, has managed to waste and blow an opportunity to retain one of the greatest players in the last few decades, and then not even get something in exchange before he walks, then I guess that's what I am. At least I got here before the floodgates open and criticism comes from a million different places about how the Angels screwed this up. I guess putting someone on ignore doesn't help when they're quoted, but I can't say I'm surprised at the insult considering the source. There are a lot more tactful ways of disagreeing with someone, or criticizing their views, but I suppose some are incapable of that level of discourse, so they resort to name calling and insults.
  20. At the trade deadline, I would have put it at maybe 20%. And that's being generous. With the way it's gone since then, I'm going with 0%.
  21. I assume that when Ohtani leaves, the funny looking home run hat goes with him.
