  1. Just like his unlucky .274 BABIP in 2012.
  2. You perform theatre in your bed? Shake "spear"? Nevermind.
  3. Finally S-C-I-O-S-C-I-A's BABIP on relief pitchers if finally correcting itself.
  4. The awesomeness of that gesture just shows you how deep and caring a human being Jered is! Congratulations Jered and family!
  5. Quit horsing around with me please. I have to go to bed early tonight so I can giddyup early in the morning.
  6. This is why I almost NEVER contribute jokes about players because it either a) just doesn't seem right to me, b ) it is not obvious to some that it is a joke, or c) it just fails to produce laughter. I'll go back to what I do better now, please disregard.
  7. Clearly you haven't been around the other John Lackey threads or you would see the joke in my one word statement. I wasn't responding to your statement.
  8. Would it be possible for you to go year-round? :P :P
  9. I don't know too much about him either. Yesterday I read a short blurb about him and it appears he doesn't have a typical pitcher's frame (meaning tall, lanky, etc...) but he has good projection.
  10. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/intl-prospect-signings.html Venezuelan lefty that reminds scouts of Alex Torres of the Rays (and formerly in the Angels farm system)
  11. 1) Beyond Hunter Green, which pitching prospect particularly excites you that the Angels acquired in this year's First Year Player Draft?
  12. Do you get upset when she slips up and says "Jeff Mathis"?
  13. I like the positivity Mancini but history also shows that most teams that far back don't make the playoffs. I'm hoping for the best as always but the reality of the hole we have to dig ourselves out of is pretty deep.
  14. To be honest this just really strikes me as an opportunity to acquire a Minor League career .371 OBP outfielder from a team that designated him for assignment and preferred to deal him for something (that being Kyle Johnson) rather than potentially getting nothing at all. It is just part of Dipoto's efforts to build good depth at all positions in my opinion. The possible bonus is that Cowgill's OBP might actually translate to the Majors one day if we need a 4th outfielder or replacement bat. Overall I agree with some of the other posters that we are reading way too much into this trade.
  15. If he gets four more he will have a PentaKill (obscure game reference that I fully expect no one to get).
  16. AO, there were a couple of articles on FanGraphs regarding the Angels run differentials and hit sequencing earlier in the year. I couldn't find the former but I did find the latter: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-importance-of-sequencing/ Basically the Angels started off the year with one of the worst run differentials in baseball and they ranked very low in production from hit sequencing (grouping multiple hits in a row and scoring RISP basically). A recent article stated the Angels should have the 3rd best record over the remainder of the season which will leave us at 81 wins or something similar (i.e. out of contention).
  17. There is some truth to your first statement but the Angels also happen to have a huge payroll that most other teams don't have. Carrying a handful of high-priced free agents doesn't prevent the Angels from rebuilding their farm system properly. Last year and this year's drafts were minor steps towards correcting that problem. I sincerely believe that if we are out of contention we will trade off some minor pieces and maybe one medium-sized piece to add more to the farm and we will begin in earnest with next year's draft by staying out of the free agent market this season and probably next season (2015 has some interesting free agents hitting the market that the Angels might go after). As for your 2nd statement it seems a bit flippant and disrespectful to a lot of the people on this site.
  18. Don't be fooled by tdawg's splits, Scott. It is just the volcano burritto talking.
  19. Good point and that would be another reason to platoon him with Callaspo (.299 vs. LHP) if the Angels went that route.
  20. On a totally unrelated note I had a dream the other night where I visited the board and posters were all up in arms about the great acquisition we'd made for an awesome starting pitcher. It was right after the dream where I was standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand nake women screaming and throwing little pickles at me.
