  1. Oh really? I seemed to recall there being a lot of speculation but no one could identify that 2nd guy. Good to know! Glad we didn't do it!
  2. For a long time I have believed that Rengifo's bat has a lot of potential for a MIF, so I really hope he is turning a corner because a lively Rengifo bat can be a nice contributor to this club as others have noted.
  3. But Jeff who was the second piece the Angels were sending with Rengifo?!?!?
  4. Actually they appear to hit offspeed pitches well enough. It really seems to be a fastball issue specifically.
  5. Boy this thread started hot right out of the gate, didn't it?
  6. Great content @taylorblakeward, Justin Campbell and Ben Joyce feel like guys Minasian would potentially target. Well done!
  7. Hi Jeff, here are some possible reasons: Team strikeouts are high. Angels hitters are getting beat by opposing pitcher fastballs. Angels hitters are not making enough contact on pitches in the strike zone.
  8. When I hear the word "rebuild", I immediately equate it to a tear down of the current roster and a multi-year process of reconstituting the entire team. The Angels have not been that for a handful of years now, primarily because they have two once-in-a-lifetime generational players on the team in Trout and Ohtani. They have been trying to surround those two with a good set of role players and other stars, to win now, not later. So everyone should get the word rebuild out of their vocabulary as long as one or both of Trout and Ohtani are on this roster. At best you should be calling it a "retooling", probably. "Reloading" might be a word that describes a "retooling" combined with a touch of "rebuilding". Don't use the word rebuild until Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are no longer on this roster. Despite the fact the team is laying down to their opponents, doesn't mean the organization philosophically believes the team should not be competitive year in and year out. I think they all want to win, but the magic formula has not presented itself yet and the personalities involved in the decision making processes continue to jam up the wheels (looking directly at Arte Moreno here).
  9. My older brother wrote to me on Facebook and basically said, "My brother! Joining me in the second half of your first hundred years.", ha.
  10. Thanks all! Sorry I was actually in Florida most of the week on a business trip and didn't get back until yesterday, so I only saw this now! Sincerely appreciate it, thank you!
  11. Thank God you double-checked the spelling of "loup" or it would have been Error In Loop.
  12. Well if he gives you pox, you can just turn to him and say, "Really Monkey?"
  13. Okay I read wrong, lol. Throw my name into 26th or 27th, your choice @failos.
  14. Season tickets? If there is a game on June 16th or 17th, or 18th, that would be awesome! Or did I not read your original post right?
  15. In this hypothetical, trading for Soto does not preclude the Angels signing Shohei Ohtani, but as IP pointed out it will be incredibly difficult to do both. If the Angels are in a window of contention, acquiring 2 1/2 years of Soto would put us in a much more competitive spot as long as we don't send off 40-man pitching. Not every team would be able to handle his arbitration salaries so some of the smaller and mid-market teams would not be in the discussion. If all of you are prepared and comfortable to see Jo Adell, Sam Bachman, Arol Vera, Ky Bush, and Jeremiah Jackson go out the door in a Soto trade, then more power to Moreno. If not, don't do it. Personally, I feel like out pitching depth up and down the system is much improved and with Trout locked up and Ohtani almost certainly to be locked up, why not spend the next 2 1/2 years going hard at a Championship? This all presumes that we have enough trade chips to impress Washington and that will not be easy, if not close to impossible. I will say that Adell is an attractive player as a centerpiece, but the problem is that the Nationals probably want multiple centerpieces and rightly so.
  16. Heck, Cal State Long Beach has produced: Troy Tulowitzki Jered Weaver Evan Longoria Marco Estrada Matt Duffy Jason Giambi Jason Vargas Danny Espinosa Paul McAnulty (our favorite!) Kyle Abbott Adam Wilk Vance Worley List continues, but that is just one solid baseball college in CA, so it is pretty unbecoming of the Halos to not be roaming their own backfield.
