I wouldnt mind if the Angels hired Mathis as Catching instructor/coach in the offseason. Couldn't hurt, no where to go but up when you are pretty much at ground zero.

This is essentially waving the white flag. I would proceed with letting go of Wise and Nevin at this point since they won't be back anyways.

Angels still have to pick up the bill after the season ends, this is a workplace injury.

Rendon is a singular player that makes too much money to move. You can put him on a list but that list is worthless as he has been as a player the last three seasons.
The coaching staff affects the other 24 players on the roster, including all call ups. Their effectiveness directly influenced the outcomes of games. Currently there are too many cases where they have not made a positive contribution to preparing the team to win.
There can be many factors, and I will grant you that Nevin has been hobbled by injuries that makes it impossible to assemble a cohesive team roster from one series to the next. Unfair as that is, he and his staff has to take responsibility for the performance of the players at his disposal, placing them in positions they can handle, whether that be fielding positions, batting orders, situational play awareness and proper bullpen usage.
I think the Angels could have a better record with better management and coaching along with complimentary analytics. I don't think this coaching staff with even a healthy roster gets the most out of those players. I believe Minasian will have to make changes if the right candidate becomes available.
Players to cut would be those that have contracts that end this season. The only player in that group I would consider a one year extension to would be Moustakas. Everyone else can go and please take Velazquez with them.
I would retain all players under club control but listen to trade offers to any player not named O'Hoppe, Neto or Schanuel. That includes starting pitchers and relievers.
I would let Ohtani walk unless there is a hometown discount and he agrees to a five man rotation and limitations on his DH role to provide him with rest periods after pitching.

    Additions:
Offer Shohei three years at 180 million and pray that loyalty wins out.
Bring in Jeff Mathis to help rebuild the catching infrastructure and instruction in the organization.
Make Thaiss a 3b/1b platoon and use him only as the third catcher.
Trade for a Veteran catcher from another team to be second behind O'Hoppe since it looks like Stassi is done.
Add someone to help rebuild the pitching infrastructure and oversee major league pitching. Poach someone from one of the strong pitching teams like Milwaukee. I like what that organization has done year in and year out.
Resign Grichuk, Moustakas, Matt Moore, Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, with Lopez taking over as closer and Estevez the 8th inning guy. I would only pay these guys their market value with Giolito for 3 years, Lopez and Moore for 2 years, and the others on one year deals.
See how healthy Urshela is and resign him on a bargain one year deal if he is.
Spend more money on Scouting (amateur, minor league, and major league scouting). Can we get back the good ones that were let go by Dipshit Dipoto?
Continue poaching people from organizations strong in Analytics. I don't think its the emphasis on analytics that is screwing things up. I believe its the analytics that we are doing that isn't up to snuff and we need to spend more money to double down and get good at it.
Find someone from one of the good organizations (i.e. Tampa Bay, Dodgers, Houston) who can be President of Baseball operations to oversee the Angels' return to glory.  Let that person decide whether or not to keep Perry. Let that person have full autonomy over everything baseball-related.
    Subtractions:
Let Escobar, Renfroe, Loup, Cron go.
Move Anderson to the bullpen. And spot start him against favorable matchups (teams that struggle against left handers).
Return Joyce, Schanuel to the minors to start next season. They need more instruction and seasoning away from the spotlight.
Let Nevin go, because the writing is on the wall. I like him as a person but he's not the right person to bring the Angels out of this mess.
Let Wise go, and stop promoting from within for a pitching coach. Look for someone who's been in pitching for a very long time outside of the organization. See Additions above.
Let go of the infield and outfield defensive instructors and coaches. Either there isn't enough emphasis on fundamentals or the right drills and techniques are not used. Any way you cut it, this part of the organization needs to be rebuilt as well.

Time to honestly look in the mirror. Even if we had Rendon, Trout, Neto, O'Hoppe for the full year, we all can see that this team would have been undone by its pitching anyways. Just in the last week, how many times have we let the opposing team scrore 8+ runs? A real playoff team could go an entire season without giving up 12+ even once and we've done it at least three times this week alone. The pitching/catching philosophy needs to be revisited (or blown up) and reconstructed. From the minors to the majors and down to the scouting at all levels. I miss the days of Stoneman, Bud Black, and Scioscia. The pitching and catching were in sync up and down the organization and the results reflected that. It may be time to poach people from other organizations with a history of successful pitching results and consider if we can find someone to bring back the skills in catching taught by Scioscia.

If Arte stays on as owner, he at least needs to move Carpino aside and hire a real baseball guy as President. Yes, Arte meddles and has been the cause of some catastrophic mistakes. But which owner doesn't to some degree. Eddie Debartolo with the 49ers had Jon McVay and Bill Walsh to check him. Arte needs to find that type of guy and make him President. When Friedman was with the Rays, Arte should have made him an offer with the keys to the castle, free reign, a blank check, and absolute veto power. But alas Arte didn't have the foresight to do that but he needs to now.
I feel for him in some ways. In the late 2000's he was generally considered one of the better owners in the league. He lost out on Miguel Cabrera when the Marlins got greedy at the last moment. He lost out on Texeira and blamed it on Scott Boras. That caused him to hesitate on signing Adrian Beltre right away and eventually lost him to Texas. Then he got impatient. I always thought that the real reason Stoneman stepped down was because Arte wanted someone he could consummate the big trade or signing that would put the Angels over the top. Due to Stoneman's hoarding of prospects and the methodical and slow way he would contemplate every move that was probably why Arte turned to someone like Reagins who was terrible but a push over.  Then came that utterly stupid, knee-jerk Vernon Wells trade and the hole in the pitching pipeline because of the untimely Adenhart passing.
In reality, Stonemans emphasis on prospects and building from within was probably the right way to go and ultimately trading for Dan Haren and half a season of Greinke, were moves that were made to bridge the gap but cost the Angels in terms of prospects. This had repercussions in later years since the guys that were lost were 4 major leaguers (Joe Saunders, Patrick Corbin, Tyler Skaggs, and Jean Segura). To top this off, after the Angels championship season in 2002, they would go on to the playoffs and lose in excruciating ways to the White Sox and to the Red Sox multiple times. The last great chance for them to make the World Series in the past 20 years was in 2009 when they got ousted in the AL Championship round by the Yankees. I always wondered, if the Angels had only shelled out the money to keep Frankie as the closer in the offseason instead of signing Brian Fuentes if we would have won the first game of that series. That was a tone setting game because the Angels lost that one when A-rod homered off Fuentes to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th (or 10th?) with the Angels about to close it out 2-1. Maybe they would have lost anyways, but I would like to think with Frankie, we would have gotten past them.
So I can see where Arte's impatience and the meddling has come from. I don't excuse it. But he hasn't always been known as a bad owner. I agree it may be time for him to sell. But if he is going to stay on, then he needs to try something different. He needs to hire the best President he can from one of the successful organizations (like the Rays, Dodgers) and give that person complete autonomy.

I think they did get a backend of the bullpen guy in Reynaldo. They have been slow to make a change though. They just went with the horse that got them this far in Estevez. He looks tired to me. Probably why he's falling off balance after his release, trying to get his velocity to 99+. He doesn't use his slider or changeup enough anymore probably because he can't get them over the plate for strikes effectively. He isn't pitching out there. He's throwing. Wish he would dial it down and go with movement at 95 and work on regaining control of his secondaries so he can use them again.

I don't think the Angels should fire Nevin right now. There are still players in that dugout that are his guys and firing him would essentially be waving the white flag. Might as well shut down Ohtani and Trout at that point too. Unfortunately for him he is going to be the scapegoat firing at the end of the season though. In all honesty, my gut feeling is Nevin isn't that great of a manager or baseball mind. However, I can't validate that hypothesis with the results from this Angels season because I don't think he's the only cook in the kitchen. Hard to put anything on the man, when I believe not all the decisions are his.

Same old story. You would think a 5-1 lead would get you a win. This isn't a good team. They can score runs but the pitching is dogshit. The entire pitching infrastructure needs to be cleared out and rebuilt. If Maddon was let go the way he was, you wonder how come no one has taken the fall for the pitching woes.

    @Jeff Fletcher a few things…
    - Did anyone ask Nevin why he didn’t use Escobar to bunt for Grichuk?

    - What does Nevin mean when he says “the Angels would have only gotten one chance to drive in the run with Schanuel before Ohtani would’ve been intentionally walked?
A chance with a runner at 3B and 1 out is better than two chances with a runner at 2B.
And, even if Schanuel didn’t get the runner in and they IBB’d Ohtani, they would’ve had another chance with Drury up and 2 outs.

    - Did anyone ask Nevin why he left Estévez in to face Josh Lowe at 35+ pitches when he had a lefty reliever (Loup) ready in the pen?

My personal view is that Nevin needs to be fired. Loup needs to be DFAd and Estevez is not a closer. Anderson should have been removed when he started to suck, which was the third inning. How can you leave Estevez in for two innings after he pitched so poorly in the 9th. Being saved by a triple play should have told Nevin something. Nevin used the rest of the bullpen for one inning each and they all came through. Any one of those three pitchers should replace Estevez as the closer.

Sorry I didn't send you my Angels fan CV before posting. Just because I haven't been posting here in this forum, doesn't mean I haven't been an avid Angels fan since 1979, when I was 6 years old. Nor does it mean I lack the brain to see obvious stuff, such as that it would have been an insanely great idea to take out the reliever out who is absolutely awful and was lottery-level lucky to survive his first inning in a must win game for the Angels.

You let me know if it's okay if I can keep posting.
